Instead of chasing storms they should be chasing paper.

We just had a huge tornado outbreak yesterday and it flattened 3 small towns and a couple of suburbs. They just kept dropping. The EF3 took out a chunk of the airport.
Spent the day cleaning up trees and covering as much as we could with tarps.

The giant wedge tornado in Nebraska yesterday gave me immediate PTSD when I saw the footage
Like I instantly had to shit and got the shakes
Fucking hate this stuff for everyone who’s in the path of these storms
Tornadoes are unbelievably terrifying
Hoping any posters and their loved ones that happen to be in the regions where these storms are firing off are safe/have access to shelter

We used to go to the bluffs and watch the storms roll in. The scariest tornado moment I've had is pulling over and watching one cross the interstate around the Iowa/Missouri border. Just a line of cars with people standing on the side of I29. Very dystopian.

Just a line of cars with people standing on the side of I29. Very dystopian. I don’t like pictures, video, nothing when it comes to tornadoes. A picture can literally sour my stomach immediately. I’ve always been quite scared of them just by the way they look, the apocalyptic colors the sky takes on, etc, as long as I can remember. That said, the most terrifying to me are those rain-wrapped MFers. Joplin’s 2011 tornado was wrapped and they’re so devastating because folks just don’t know. Two years before the 2011 tornado, a large rain-wrapped tornado hit south of Joplin in a rural area. However, a number of people were killed because they literally drove right into it. My buddy Jason’s wife lost her entire family in that storm. Her parents, little brother, and I believe it was her grandmother were all en route to a wedding and they drove into it just thinking it was heavy rain. None of them survived. She wasn’t with them because she had a stomach bug. I just cannot imagine that type of tragedy. So, yeah, fuck the tornadic fury of Mother Nature

Rain-wrapped tornadoes are the most frightening. That story is awful.
I'm not familiar with southern Missouri, are basements common down there?

So are external shelters (like what my in-laws have). Those are just giant cement rooms built into the ground with venting and shit. A lot of people had those installed in the years following May 22, 2011. It became a booming business for like three to four or so years.

Interesting. Growing up in the country we had a "storm cellar" and a basement. I'd like an external shelter for the impending nuclear war, though.

Drove I-40 to i-44 through Oklahoma and Missouri and was shitting myself the entire time knowing that stretch is notorious for f4 and f5 tornadoes. I’ve always loved keeping up with the weather and have watched a ton of docs on the Joplin, el Reno, Moore, etc… tornadoes. They scare the shit out of me. I’d never driven through that region of the country before so driving on roads id seen in videos for very bad things was unsettling

mentioned it before but cheftony and i are real deal tornado survivors. www.weather.gov/lzk/svr2003yr.htmdidn't bother reading this too close but this is us. somewhere on the national weather service site is a report of our specific incident. getting thrown 80ft sucks ass. my knee still hurts 21 years later when it rains. surprised our home wasn't listed here. the news channels totally trespassed to shoot our rubble. the last thing i remember before getting in an ambulance is telling a newscaster that i didn't wanna talk about it

This is why no one lives in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota.
