Whenever I listen to either one plead their case against the other I wind up hopping onto their team by the time they're finished. lol this is so fucking real. I would (not in any real serious way) say I am team Noel in the 90's and 2000's but have been more team Liam in recent years. In defense of Noel I will say I think that by being more of a ~sell out~ he is in fact more real and legit than Liam. I feel like Liam tries very hard to seem more authentic in recent years but in doing so just feels more inauthentic. Noel has no qualms about hobnobbing with the people he does and will be blunt about how he operates.

I like the Oasis v. Blur rivalry from the 90s. One for the lads and one for the posh kids/uni kids.

Noel wrote some of my favorite songs ever. Can’t hate on him too much for being a prick. Liam is funnier and dresses really cool so most of the time I’m on team Liam, but deep down inside I know Liam wouldn’t have been shit without Noel.

Where does board stand with Blur In HS I saw their interview with Narduwar and they were dicks to him so it turned me off from ever diving into their music.

I apologize for posting this story on board for the millionth time BUT my favorite britpop rivalry story is when Danny Boyle held a private screening for Jarvis Cocker and Damon Albarn of Trainspotting since he wanted them on the soundtrack for it. Apparently Albarn was all twisted up about having Blur songs associated with drug use n shit and Cocker basically told him to lighten the fuck up and how it was obviously a great fucking film and they should be so lucky to have Boyle wanting to use their music for it.
Meanwhile, Oasis thought the movie was literally about trains and refused to let their music be used for it.
I always say how this story somehow perfectly showcases how Oasis and Pulp are fucking awesome for two completely different reasons and Blur fucking sucks.

I think it is probably how most people feel about them

Liam has become much more likable in the last decade or so. He was fully unpleasant to read anything about or listen to throughout the whole Beady Eye thing, it's like all he cared about was doing something and being better at it than Noel. That didn't work out obviously...
It's been all Noel for me up until these Liam solo records. Noel's great at talking up his new output and he can make it sound real interesting and exciting but... it isn't. It's honestly pretty average.
Liam is the better one-liner and funny quote guy. Noel is the better overall interview and interesting person/historian of music and Oasis.

I loved Beady Eye and these Liam solo LPs are good. I think he's coming out with a new one soon, with I think the dude from Stone Roses.

Also feels like there's been a very legitimate effort on his/management's part to soften Liam's image. Something like that C'mon You Know album cover probably doesn't happen 15 years ago, for example.

I like Blur a lot but even their best stuff doesn’t touch any of the early Oasis material. They arguably have more “good” albums but no perfect ones.
Elastica is another band that doesn’t get brought up enough re Britpop, that first record rocks.

Top 10 feels arbitrary with Oasis, since it’s so tough and the list changes so much. But some of my most favorite tracks:
1) Acquiesce 2) Don’t Go Away 3) Gas Panic! 4) Some Might Say 5) Part of the Queue 6) D’ya Know What I Mean? 7) Supersonic 8) My Big Mouth 9) DLBIA 10) I Hope I Think I Know
In case it isn’t obvious, Be Here Now was coming out just as I was really beginning to dig them and I was moving further from just listening to metal. I have a maaaaassive subway wall advertisement for All Around the World up in my office @ home rn.
I remember being 12 and thinking Be Here Now really felt like an “event.” The marketing push and expectations were so, so high, even I could feel it and I was just a dumb kid watching MTV.

My fantasy Oasis scenario: They "patch things up" (whatever that means) enough to where they get along on stage and have fun with their careers. This includes: Performing select High Flying Birds tracks with Liam. Performing select Liam solo tracks with Noel. Maybe even performing tracks from that Aisis record!
Point is, it would be great if this band closed out their fuckin' 50s by poking fun at the whole sibling rivalry thing being in the rearview. Since Andy Rourke died the whole Oasis beef situation has felt so "is it really worth it?" to me. Like, we will never see those Smiths dudes play together because Morrissey lost some money two decades ago.
