I haven't participated in this whole process, it seems cool. Just like popping in to talk shit.

Wow... I mean, it's excellent as far a "church music" goes, but I'm going through Pray with Little Richard now, and can't even recognize this (vocals or compositions) as being him

lol they gave me a white stripes album today 40 minutes might as well be 400 minutes I donโt know when I started hating White Stripes but I really do. Itโs the sonic equivalent of a guy wearing a wool scarf with cargo shorts. I would say I was pretty ambivalent about their existence and then 7 Nation Army became a sports arena song and now I wish Jack White had never been born

Holy shit. Today is Leonard Cohen I'm Your Man. How on EARTH did this make this list? It is beyond terrible. Contender for some of the worst "music" I've ever heard

Nirvana - In Utero. Havenโt listened to this one straight through in years. I still think I am more of a Nevermind guy, but this one is still full of heaters. 5 stars.

I much prefer Bleach and In Utero to Nevermind, altho Nevermind does have some heaters as well. In Bloom is probably my favorite of all their 'mega' hit singles

one last nirvana note: this live clip has been making the rounds online again recently for some reason and goddamn it is awesome when they leaned into their heavier moments.

I love Leonard Cohen but I can understand why someone might not be into that particular album.
I do think his strongest work are the early folksier ones (Songs of Leonard Cohen, Songs of Love and Hate) and the ones near the end (You Want It Darker).
I was lucky enough to catch him perform a few years before he passed and it was such a wonderful performance. the man had such a Prescence on stage.

Day 11 - Nine Inch Nails (The Downward Spiral) - 4/5 cornier than I remember, but still holds up Day 12 - Skepta (Konnichiwa) - 2/5 more random UK dogshit showing the author's bias, but this time it's a really corny grime album. Ludacris nursery rhyme type bars, skits that belong in a rap album from 2003... it's bad Day 13 - The Wire (Pink Flag) - 5/5 this album changed my life when I was a teenager and made me fall in love with punk -- so blessed for this being one of my first introductions to punk and I can't believe it came out in 1977, this could be a fresh album in every single year since Day 14 - The Fall (This Nation's Saving Grace) - 5/5 to be honest I didn't really get The Fall until Sean made me like an 85 song long playlist of their songs -- I've successfully been brainwashed into getting them -- when I was first getting into older post-punk in high school I found them boring and did not have the patience to listen through their massive discography, now I love them so much especially this one it's one of their more accessible ones Day 15 - Johnny Cash (At San Quentin) 2/5 - this just felt like a throwaway bootleg recording for diehard Johnny Cash fans rather than a good live album Not very strong picks the past few days - only favorite was one I already knew well Day 16 - Willie Nelson (Red Headed Stranger) 3/5 Day 17 - Venom (Black Metal) 3/5 Day 18 - Bjork (Debut) 5/5 Day 19 - George Harrison (All Things Must Pass) 3/5 Day 20 - James Taylor (Sweet Baby James) 2/5 would've made it a 1 but at least he can sing Even less winners this time lol Day 21 - Aerosmith (Rocks) 1/5 - Guantanamo Bay torture Day 22 - Earth Wind & Fire (That's The Way Of The World) 3/5 - honestly not much of a disco record, it's pretty boring and ballad heavy not their best but the musicianship is still top notch Day 23 - Christina Aguilera (Stripped) 4/5 - finally some good fucking food Day 24 - Count Basie & His Orchestra (The Atomic Mr Basie) 3/5 - not necessarily my kind of thing but pretty dope how punk and energetic this was for like a 1950s swing record which at the time was becoming a predominantly white subgenre of jazz and was just like stuffy elevator music so I'm glad I finally heard it Day 25 - Rush (Moving Pictures) 1/5 - more Guantanamo Bay torture

I had only previously heard Everybody Knows by him (from the Pump Up The Volume soundtrack), which was on this album. Maybe it's just an off album for him but god damn it's bad. Like, I try really hard to understand other peoples perspectives and tastes. Most of the time I'll say something "isn't for me" or "I didn't care for this", but I feel like this album is objectively terrible

It's not a hot take at all. Most of you geezers found out about punk through Slayer so it wouldn't make sense to you why the first three White Stripes album sound a lot like The Gun Club, MC5, The Birthday Party, The Stooges

Thank you for your thoughtful zoomer-splaining and knowledge on how I found punk. You've obviously academically studied this subject

I loved the white stripes. But I also like bad things, so what do I know. Jack White is a weird try hard, but I enjoy his work in TWS and raconteurs.

And no one said anything about you personally, so no need to get your panties in a bunch. I don't twist mine when I'm constantly told I should "academically study" fucking Rush, or whatever other poppy Phil Collins midlife crisis AOR hard rock that's always discussed here
I'm just saying that isn't a hot take at all because they literally started out as a very punk-influenced band, they grew out of the ashes of a bunch of Detroit garage punk bands even. You don't have to personally like their sound but the energy of those first few albums is flawless either way

I got a white stripes album (5th one) like a week ago and it was so fucking boring I had to turn it off halfway through. Iโll check out their first few albums, but only because comparing them to the stooges, gun club, and mc5 is pretty damn high praise.

To clarify, I have no problem with anyone liking the White Stripes, or calling them punk, or for that matter listing a bunch of great bands who obviously influenced them. But to call any of their albums "one of the best punk albums ever made" is inarguably wrong

im genuinely shocked people are besmirching the first couple albums of theirs. them shits are fucking hot fire, hot to the touch garage/punk albums. if they had mysteriously died or something right when White Blood Cells dropped and never did anything after people would definitely hold those albums in very high revere
