Weird how the heroin addict he abused recovered quicker than he did.

some people have no business being public figures (read: most of them)
bam is a good example of this, especially these days

come to think of it, that is the only shot I have at reuniting HIM
Please Bam Bam

I wonder what his dad is up to In one of the pre-meltdown pics it looks like he was in a wheelchair :/
The cruel irony is that Bam looks more like his dad than when he was fucking with him during the Viva years

I didnβt follow this dude and his shit early on. What exactly was his claim to fame? That Jackass show? CKY? Skating? Why are so many people in their late twen'ties to mid thirties so wrapped up in the shit going on between this guy and his friends?

CKY, then jackass then the MTV show if im not wrong. MTV gave him thousssssands of dollars per episode for Viva la Bam to basically do whatever the fuck he wanted. He talks about it on the nine club.

DiCamillo did the right thing and took off from these guys True. He was always my favorite of the group so I'm glad he didn't get wrapped up in this shit after the show ended
I was a huge Viva La Bam fan with all my friends back in 8th grade but rewatching it now is just the worst. It pretty much boils down to a spoiled rich kid and his friends fucking with his rather tolerant parents. Once the show ended and Don Vito was outed as a creep, that was the beginning of the end

Pro skateboarder, originally rode for toy machine, element, etc. Jackass dudes, minus bam, originally were columnists for a skate mag called big brother. The magazine put out skate videos which featured stunts that were precursors to jackass. Bam puts out the CKY videos which features similar hijinx and skating. Both parties bro out and link up. Jeff Tremaine, editor of big brother comes up with the idea of making the stunts into a show, MTV green lights it, fast forward through hella dope, here we are now.

Big Brother was my favorite skate mag. They were distributed by the same group as hustler, once they βaccidentallyβ sent me a copy of this rad fetish porn mag instead of my normal big brother subscription. I had it mailed to my grandmas place and I remember opening it up in front of her ready for big brother and pull out this mag with a cover of some lady in latex pegging a dude I believe

As someone who only ever watched skateboarding from the sidelines, is it just me or are a lot of these old skate pros just completely fucked up. Tony Hawk seems to have kept it together despite the fame

I honestly thought the people fawning over these guys online were just teenagers-turned-adults who grew up watching Jackass.

Idk, skating used to be for antisocial fuckups, so it makes sense some of those muchachos would develop into middle aged fuckups. Iβm the same age group and have def been through similar shit along with my friends
I feel like skating now is on some wholesome feel good shit that the kid on the soccer team does, which isnβt necessarily a negative, it just lacks the bite it once had

Nah Dyrdek is chill, itβs no ones fault really. More so skating being brought to the masses via Red Bull, THPS (I know, it sucked typing that out), dew tour, etc. The more it can be marketed and sold, the more digestible it is and any sort of counterculture associated with it thins out.

Tony by no means is fucked up. I think an outsiders view of pro skateboarders might solely be based around the early Baker muchachos, given that they were all huge party animals. Or someone like Gator Rogowski.
Granted when youβre playing with a useless wooden toy for a living, itβs kind of hard to transition into the workforce which is why every pro who had his heyday from the early-mid 90βs to now is starting a board or apparel company since you canβt really put βDid a sweet switch flip switch manny at the court house manny pad in 2002, hire meβ on a resume

Skating, at least from my viewpoint, got absorbed by rich/upper middle class kids a long time ago. I wen't to junior high in the mid-nineties and if you didn't have crisp new Alien Workshop shirts and Airwalks you were a dirt-head or a scrub. All the kids who wore that shit lived in the nice neighborhoods with parents who could afford to finance their Tony Hawk cosplay for a year. You could tell the kids who weren't just posing, they usually just looked like dirty punk/metal kids and wore a fucked up pair of Etnies covered in Shoe Goo.
Skating originally gained traction as an activity for punk rock/antisocial/a-typical fuck-up types but, with the advent of Warped Tour and "skate shops" like Zumiez popping up in malls across America, it became way more in line with spoiled rich kids looking to slum it for a couple years and piss off their community. It's obviously a regional thing, too. What happened where I grew up isn't a universal thing, obviously.
