I got into an argument with some elitist metalhead about how Obituary is one of the best death metal bands of all time and he gave me a long spiel about how they weren't fast or technical enough. Another genre of music I enjoy but hate the fans. Trevor is such a cool dude, I didn't know about the cat rescue but that makes me like the band even more.

It's possible to think Chuck Schuldiner was a god and also think Obituary are one of the greats. I got into death metal through thrash which I got into through hardcore/punk so my perspective is skewed.

Obituary rocks. Best time I saw them was the tour like five or six years ago (I think?) with Cannibal Corpse. Opened with Redneck Stomp and proceeded to just crush the entire room into cosmic dust for the next hour.

There was a funny story about Sepultura and Obituary having beef over it, don’t recall anything about Demolition Hammer but very cool. |
