bought a blue spruce fat albert tree from a nursey that gets delivered 3-4 ft in size at the end of march. got a few small pine trees in planters outside. gonna cover up the back of neighbors garage with conifer trees long term. will obv takes years to come in but hopefully will look better than the back of their garage. might see if i can pick up another biggersized tree locally to plant. My parents bought like 6 of these when I was a kid and those fuckers got huge. Bigger than this picture. Kinda hurt when you bump into them when mowing

i bought a hoya carnosa compacta for $2 at a nursery last year and i put it in my drippini on the window sill and its grown a ton and i love it so much even though its the tiniest lil planty i own. i just want him to flower tho. we talk every morning in the drippini so hopefully that helps.

i'm gonna fuck around with putting more plants outside this year. i put these two monsteras in heavy cheap pots to put outside this summer. i bought one monstera from lowes like two years ago and have propagated it 4 times. these are fairly expendable. if he dies he dies. also a bunch of my cacti are gonna go on the back porch where they will get morning and afternoon sun.

Anybody got tips on how to have houseplants with a dog who likes to eat houseplants? He ate some peace lily and regretted it, but I don’t want him to have to sample everything to find out.

My monstera is down to one big-ish leaf and a dinky one. The big one is ever so, and I really do mean ever so, turning yellow. Can I rescue this one from the brink or is it a lost cause?

Can I rescue this one from the brink or is it a lost cause? is it getting enough light? are you over/under watering it? it might be a lost cause, but its not dead yet. give it the light it needs!

I water it once a month after killing most of it through over watering, but I don't think it's getting enough light. Thanks for the tip!

my thought process is generally that you can always water more but you can't magically unwater it so i stay on the conservative side but have been doing it approx twice a week since it started getting hot

Also I live in England so it's basically never hot, even in the summer. Everyone I know who has house plants says that once a month is fine.

Also I live in England so it's basically never hot, even in the summer. Everyone I know who has house plants says that once a month is fine. Get into the habit of picking up your plants and “weighing” them. When they’re freshly watered they’ll be super heavy, but as they dry out they get lighter. Eventually you’ll learn the weight of each. And also someone else said they get droopy, another visual cue. Eventually you’ll just kinda figure it out based on the above. Light is always the biggest thingt though, and if you live somewhere without a lot of sun you’ll need to make sure it’s getting enough maybe at another window or with a lamp.
