So can you just buy another gift card while you’re there and repeat? I would assume, yeah. No need for a hefty membership. Not hefty. When recently pressed last week about there having been no recent membership increase (since June 2017!) CFO Richard Galanti said "it's incumbent upon us to be that beacon of light to our members in terms of holding (membership cost) right now". All hail our savior Lord Costco. www.retaildive.com/news/inflation-headline-costco-cfo-holds-back-membership-fee/651495/

“bulk” isn’t always as big as people think it is, either. most things are just big bags of things for the same price as half the size at a grocery store. it’s not like a year supply of x

I feel like Costco “bulk” stuff definitely isn’t as huge as it used to be in most cases. In a good way. Like instead a barrel sized jug of mustard, it’s like two large mustards packaged together.
Although I will say I still can’t eat cape cod kettle chippies or whatever after we had what seemed like a never ending bag of the reduced fat kind. They just wouldn’t end and I didn’t want to throw them out

Another popular justification for the Costco membership is their always-low gas prices. We personally do the $120/year Executive membership, since it gives you cash back (2% per year) that then covers the membership. Note that this is a separate cash back than what you get from the Costco credit card.

Costco has always been about the non perishables in bulk format as I do all the shopping in my house. For example, we have pets so we rip through lint brushes. I get a better price on them AND I now have four so I don't have to worry about them for a few. It's rare that I buy chippies, candy etc. cuz, while a huge thing of mnm's is great, it's not necessary.

I'm trying to have as few CCs as possible. In my younger years I fucked myself with too many cards. Took me a decent amount of time to get my cards paid off and credit back in order. Not risking that again.

It's also the card I got 10+ years ago because no one else would take a chance on my broke ass credit score at the time.

FWIW Costco's cc benefits are better than most, includin citibank's "double cash" card, etc.

the costco card covers your membership cost. anyone who goes to costco regularly without the CC is clownin no it doesn’t? no annual fee with your paid membership = pays for your membership when you consider that nearly any card with ongoing 4% perks in multiple categories, plus other 2 and 3% perks will certainly almost always have an annual fee
