Agricultural labor of the period was far worse for the body than just about anything of today, beyond severe alcoholism or drug abuse. Performing the same exact intense muscular motion for several hours a day is horribly taxing on the body. They did have more leisure time than today, but it's silly to romanticize that too much. Like, a small number of people were mentally and physically fit enough to take advantage of their leisure time, because access to quality consumer goods and education was very low. Mass participation in intellectual achievements is far higher now than in the pre-industrial period, and disagreeing that this is a good thing is, well... just admit you're a fascist already. The people of the Americas in the 1300s were definitely better nourished and healthier than their decedents in the 1700s, so that's a point. But if you're white and you see homeless people in L.A. who are 35 but look 65, that's basically how your ancestors lives were. God damn. Just go back to posting shit music takes I don’t see much of a problem with his post tbh. |
