Dispute from the Bay Area. They never really got the credit they deserved, I think probably because AFI had blown up a few years prior and Ceremony and Lights Out and so many other bands sort of overshadowed them. I also donโt recall them touring.
All Bets Off, also from the Bay. Sammy Winston was a very talented writer and we corresponded somewhat regularly via email until his death. Grace Alley were also sick and had a member join Early Graves on bass when they moved the bass player to guitar.
The Scare from DC were cool, like old AFI if Davey got his inspiration from The Descendents. I donโt think they did much outside an EP, but that EP was great.

Never got to meet him but we started corresponding after I emailed him telling how much I enjoyed his columns for AMP, as I was majoring in English/creative writing at the time. I was also struggling with depression real bad at the time and he struck me as an empathetic guy who just wanted other people to be able to cope with shit better than he was able to.

I donโt know you at all muchacho but it was really clear for a while, just from your general posting style that you werenโt in a great place mentally. It has been great to see you turn a corner recently, stay strong dude ๐

Totally forgot about Last Lights. Amazing band, gone too soon. The singer killed himself on accident with a mic cord. If you haven't listened to this band, check them out. So fucking Ill.

Band was so fucking good. Mountain Man, their thing after, is also awesome. Kinda picked up where they left off.

Swallowed up. Still Crossed and Jaguarz for being on such prominent labels are both kinda forgotten. New Lows was a successful band but feels like they should have had more staying power. TikTok kids would bust one if Harvest of the Carcass came out today.

They came to Northern California on a couple occasions years and years ago and you know I had to give them the California welcome of getting them debilitatingly high. Good dudes, backed hard. Loved the two drummers that they did for a while, not sure if they still have two but it was WILD. Their demo and first couple albums are truly some of the best ever. They kinda took a left more recently and are leaning into the post hardcore kinda dreamier weird type of shit, which I dig. Plus, merch game was on point.

mental, pulling teeth, sabertooth zombie Hm. I spent the 00's in Northern California and no one knew or cared about Mental. The average hardcore enjoyer probably didn't know who they were. That said, Sabertooth Zombie was moderately big in California but I never really saw much buzz about them on the old B9, from people not from CA or in general. Figured their greatness hadn't reached the ol east coast. I agree about pulling teeth, they were pretty big and I think everyone liked them. Good band. Its interesting how regional some bands were, lots of east coast bands never really made it to the west and vice versa. Now I guess it's different since music is so much easier to find with spotify and YouTube and shit. There were a ton of sick Cali bands that never(or rarely) made it out here. Lewd Acts, Sabertooth Zombie, Pressvre, to name a few, were all in our regular rotation in 8th and 9th grade.... I never got to see any of them.

Not sure how much it holds up but we were all crazy about Hour of the Wolf back in the day too. I saw a show get announced on MySpace at the Stelton Church in Edison once I think for August 2010 where it was supposed to be Hour of the Wolf and fuckin COLISEUM once. It was promptly taken down and any reference to a show having happened on that day were erased.

Trial by Fire: melodic hardcore like Kid Dynamite or Strike Anywhere that even a lot of people into that shit miss.
Trial: did this band do some huge faux pax or something? A lot of older dudes I would think would like Trial tend to turn their nose up at them. Greg B is a bit much I guess.
Stand Accused: one of the first hardcore demos I discovered online, this shit fucking rips.
