I’m excited to hear the rest. Admittedly, I did not love Texas Moon anywhere near Learnin’ to Drown. Just doesn’t do it for me. But I’m excited nonetheless.
An aside. I think The Menzingers “Hello Exile” is an amazing album. For whatever reason, I just get a country feel from it and I can’t exactly explain it. It makes me wish someone would reimagine it as a country record. I think it’d be incredible.

The beginning dragged on a bit. I’m wondering if this whole season really is about George jones

I'm just glad the "real episodes" started. That one the Nashville A-team just sounded like a two hour list of names to me. Informative but about as entertaining as a phone book.
Pretty sure it's all on George Jones. It was supposed to be a book or something.

Also, that comment on Jones sounding hornier than a cartoon wolf had me laughing like a maniac on my drive to work.

So far I am digging the early releases of VNE’s new record. Am I just mental or do Learning to Drown, High on Gettin’ By, and Durango all sound like almost the same riffs? I get Travis picking doesn’t leave an insane amount of room to change things up, but I don’t know, they definitely sound real similar to me. Not mad about it, just curious. Durango isn’t up yet, but there are videos of him playing from the past couple years.

Does Songs:Ohia fit into this janra?
If so I’ve been bumming myself out in the best way lately

Speaking of Williams, still not sure whether or not I like what IV's doing I don't think I like any of the Williams' stuff outside of Hank and Hank Jr. Wasn't one of them a rapper?

Gets a lot of love from the WAF and Gems fellers, but it was nothing that stuck to me at all. Sometimes a name is just a name and doesn’t hint at anything more. I always have a hard time criticizing others since I try to make music, too. But, yeah, the video they did for WAF just didn’t do a single thing for me.

Living up to the family name is extremely hard, off the top of my head I think Hank Jr. is really the only successful kid of a star. You could argue Shooter, Lukas Nelson, or Elijah Blue, but they haven't sniffed what their fathers have done.

Jake Dylan also comes to mind, though, I absolutely love the Wallflowers and probably enjoy listening to them far more than Bob. Take away the metal journey and I think H3 is pretty dang good musically speaking. Obviously not the star or carries cultural impact of his father or grandfather, but I do like his songs. This kid is young and perhaps he’ll put out more stuff that speaks to me, but I haven’t been into it yet.

Had no idea who Jakob Battick was so going by the cover art I was half expecting a bootleg King Dude but it's really good. Kind of reminds me of acts like Dune Messiah but Battick really takes the psych influence a lot further with those 12 minute songs and all. The way Palms On Bonita ebbs and flows is perfect. A record to keep on repeat.

Glad to see the love, he’s a bud of mine. He’s been messing with this sound for a bit and I think this is his best yet. He also played in a group called “afraid” they have an album on Spotify also.

Anyone care to hit me with their fav release(s) from 2021 so far? I'm partial to honky tonk-ish stuff but I'll check out anything.
