The new track the Swede dropped is supposedly written by Theo Lawrence. Talk about a eurocountry powerhouse of a cut.

Coward already came out with a statement about how much he supports law enforcement. I can imagine you need to secure the punisher skull lifted truck segment of your audience but damn, what a wasted opportunity.

That tour is going to be nothing but bro country people that pay absolutely no attention to the opening acts.

Imagine having to do a "Tales From The Tour Bus" type of thing about these babies a couple years down the line.
"And then he profusely apologized to the officers, we all had some prayers and were in bed by 9".

Today I got to hold one of Johnny Cash’s personal Martin guitars. Like what the fuck. Assisted my buddy on a shoot at his daughter’s apartment in Chelsea (Roseanne). It was for a shoot of her husband, John Leventhal. Only met Roseanne briefly, but she was authentically kind as could be. And while that guitar never saw any major recordings (he’d purchased it much later in life), that’s just something I never imagined I’d have a chance to do. Like truly fucking wild tbh.

I run A Podcast Called Driftin' where we talk shop on new country releases. You'll have to understand our specific strain of dutch though. Other than that, Cocaine & Rhinestones is an obvious recommendation.

Saw Charley Crockett on Sunday and I gotta say, I was a little disapointed. Granted, this was only my second time seeing him but the whole set just seemed so... scripted? I mean, I understand his "performer" stance but it seemed too controlled; almost like the band was not allowed to have fun either. It could have been that the venue was way too big, probably a 1k cap with maybe 400 people. Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining but it just took away some of the specialness of it.
Plus, Ags Connolly opened and while he was by no means bad, the voice he sang in seemed like what some AI machine would spit out if you put in "country singer from the US". As an Englishman, it was weird.

It is also possible that I am just grumpy but it was weird.

I wish charley would just take his hat off once to let people know he’s a member of the bald community. We need you. We need bald country representation.

Charley's show is definitely practiced rehearsed and to me, perfected. Theres not a lot of room for improvisation and for me that's ok. He seems to take his act very seriously and I'm good with that. All the way down to his wardrobe, everything looks great sounds great matches etc. It's definitely not loose and free the way other bands might play but it suits my taste.

I understand what his goal is and what he is going for. The first time I saw him, August 2019, it was electric. This time, I really feel it came down to the size of the venue and maybe crowd participation. It felt too big for the setting and it made it, for me, off putting.

You know, I feel like Charley's performance is very, very tied to the venue and the crowd. Saw him twice on that same run in 2019. In the cool club he was on fire and got the crowd dancing despite it being like the middle of the week. Few days later it's the typical belgian townie bar. Half the crowd is only there for drinking and he visibly gave up mid way through the set.
Hope he doesn't go the "euro summer festival only" touring route.
