For White Lotus deaths, I'm thinking Albi's dad or grandad, Ethan, Cameron, and Harper. But also wouldn't put it past Tanya to accidentally massacre everyone on a yacht somehow.

Doing another Miami Vice re-watch because I need the comfort This movie is so underrated. I was in high school when it released and I thought it was gunna be some Scarface action movie, didn’t know it was a noir film. Just revisited and dug it hard. It’s got some real big nu metal cinema vibes even tho I wouldnt label it a true nu metal cinema flick. This has been the year or revisiting 90s and aughts movies I’ve only seen once and really loving them the second time around.

Looking for a new Netflix show to get into but im very picky. I loved hill house and bly, but Dark was too dense for me(even though i love twin peaks)
Loved sense8, the chair.
If possible i dont want the main focus to be on a romance, ive seen enough Sex Education lol. I liked the crown until the new season.
Im into witchy paranormal shit. Thought archive 81 was decent til the end.
Help

I binge watched South Side on hbomax the past few days. And holy shit, I love it. Kinda reminds me if detroiters met atlanta, but it takes place in Chicago.
Also just finished White Lotus. Definitely better than last season, but damn, it is a slowwww burn. Finale was pretty wild, though.

Read that HBO is pulling a bunch of things off of streaming again, including West World. Is their goal to become super shitty and have people unsubscribe? Dumbass move to pull your own original content off of your streaming service.

Its because of that big merger with Discovery that just happened. HBO Max is changing its name to just "Max" also which is dumb

it's amazing how there was this brief time period where I was kind of pumped to actually pay for legit streaming services because of what they offered or what their potential to offer was, but that lasted all of a year and I've gone right back to pirating. If I could deposit money directly into movie teams' patreons or something I would and it sucks that you can't really. Been thinking about just paying for shudder or mubi or ifc channel or something like that just to offset the piracy/streaming because all these mergers and content region locking etc really hurts smaller studios.
I can fire up fmovies or whatever and get close to 95% of the things I want to watch, plus about 100% of things I don't really care about watching. Can watch it wherever, whenever, on whatever platform I want. That stuff doesn't do 4k or whatever (I don't think??) but it doesn't matter to me as I watch most of it on tiny ass laptoppy screen.

HBO Max is changing its name to just "Max" also which is dumb hold up HBO Max was by far the best streaming service for a good bit, why in the entire fuck would you mess with that. Will there now be a separate HBO only streaming service or something?

Its gonna be a combination of HBO and Discovery shows now I guess. So basically everything on HBO, Discovery, TLC, Food Network, HGTV, Lifetime and Animal Planet and whatever the fuck else is owned by Warner

The combo of HBO, DC/Warner stuff and TCM (a lot of Criterion overlap) was perfect. Oh well RIP I guess

I understand the merger and that their water-brained CEO is doing anything and everything to cut costs, but the fact that they're willing to pull their own Emmy-winning shows off of the service is alarming. If they think that the backlog of Discovery Channel content is going to somehow make up for moves like that to attract or sustain subscribers, then they're sorely mistaken.

What costs are being cut here? Storing files on a server? The bandwidth costs can’t be that much relative to subscription revenues.

I think I read that they will be selling the shows to other services. The ceo seems like the biggest cock. They just fired more top personnel. I believe one of the newer higher up’s background is true crime shows ….. shit sucks.

Everyone involved is paid upfront (normally not a big fee either from what some insiders have said) and you don't get anything even if it's highly successfully etc. Talking to some friends who are working bts on sets the pay from netflix is making production studios cut corners/cost and forcing unions to really step-in to force pay minimums etc. It's a huge clusterfuck that now shitty CEOs for other streamers look to do too so they can cut every single corner to save money after being stupid for 10 years spending billions building a catalog super fast and wastefully.

Yea i remember vaguely hearing that the cast of GLOW wasnt exactly getting their fair share. Honestly its the same reason Vice network at one point had really great shows like My House and Desus and Mero, but lost them. They wanted the cast of My House (a show about trans people of color and the ballroom scene) to go around the country to different balls but wouldn't pay for the flights. And its not like the cast is rich.
