Not to say I'm hating it, but the idea is far better than the execution and long jawed pointing ghostly girls was a tired trope 15 years ago. she looked like she was pulled straight from an early Half in the Bag

I love that Issa Lopez is blaming toxic masculinity for her bad show

I've watched all the prior seasons of TD. So is this one skippable or what?

The Curse is fucking great. I never thought a show could make me as uncomfortable as Nathan For You or The Rehearsal, but Jesus Christ.

I've watched all the prior seasons of TD. So is this one skippable or what? there's a very overt paranormal thread, which i'm fully anticipating being a red herring somehow, with every instance being explainable and grounded in reality. it's not convoluted like season 2, but it's chock full of flaws to pick apart as you're watching, but you should be able to enjoy it enough without picking it apart. it's not bad, but it's not necessarily good imo

I haven't watched TD: NC yet, but I've heard of references to S1, are those shoehorned in?

I haven't watched TD: NC yet, but I've heard of references to S1, are those shoehorned in? if you must know - they brought back rust's crazy survivalist dad who is now a ghost to help this beatnik professor who was also his lover before he died by doing a crazy spooky interpretative dance for her.
- they use the spiral symbol relentlessly. this IS a red herring. literally the main guy they're looking for who they had you thinking was part of the cult started fucking with the spiral symbol so hard because his indigenous girlfriend had a tattoo of it who got it because she saw it in a dream one time and thought it was cool. biggest nothing burger.
- the research facility is funded by the tuttle family (the pedophile megachurch people from s1). that's it. they fund it. cause of course a megachurch would be funding scientific research into the origins of life. why not?

i love how dude was like
"HE'S IN THE NIGHT COUNTRY
WE'RE ALL IN THE NIGHT COUNTRY NOW"
so.... he's close? we're in the same place? A part of me wonders how much of the bad writing is attributed to the fact that Issa Lopez has never written anything for an English production before but come on, there should be controls / checks on this.

Wanted to love new TD but it’s uhh not that great
Honesty would like it more if it had no connection to True Detective and just leaned more into the supernatural horror element more. And also had better writing and acting

the new true detective reminds me of that hulu show A Teacher where it's so bad but i can't stop watching the spectacle that is more than $50 million dollars becoming worthless

i'm a big defender of td season 2 i know the story becomes incoherent quickly but it really paints you the picture that the most evil place on earth is Los Angeles (correct)
i also think it's one of the more tasteful Lynch-likes - i am constantly getting lost highway and inland empire vibes throughout
colin farrell should play an alcoholic lunatic all the time

Y’all need to start a true detective thread and jabber on there.
I am on e3 of Masters of the Air, Im enjoying for sure but the Bucky - Buck characters keep throwing me off.

just finished up Fargo season 5. really enjoyed it, but you can definitely notice a drop in quality whenever Noah stops directing. everybody in that season is acting their asses off.

I'm still going to finish it but I don't know how they fuck they're gonna wrap this up in two more episodes without it becoming more dogshit

Mr. and Mrs. Smith is a lot better than I thought it would be. Hiro Murai is the best TV director working IMO. Dudes run has been insane. Legion, Snowfall, Barry, Atlanta, and Station Eleven.

Jumping into Tokyo Vice. Ansel Elgort seems meh but it’s an interesting world.
Pretty excited to watch Mr and Mrs Smith too.
