I am not a fan of Full of Hell at all but they were the best band on that bill honestly. Insane energy live. Dying Fetus sounded like shit here but it wasn't on them. The drums were just too loud and you couldn't hear the guitar/vocals very well

My kid is getting into metal/punk/hardcore and is dying to go to his first show. He's turning 9 this weekend so we got him a Slayer shirt and tickets to see Cannibal Corpse/Obituary/Frozen Soul in the spring. He's already into CC and Obituary. It's going to be rad. Amon Amarth are headlining and I don't know the first thing about them. The only shit of theirs I've heard has been on satellite radio and I thought is was pretty corny. Do they have anything worth checking out? Just saw this show. Obituary's entire setlist was from Dying of Everything, except Redneck Stomp. Cannibal Corpse was good as always, Amon Amarth was goofy, I didn't really know anything about them but they're definitely talented and have a cool Maiden-eque stage show. Frozen Soul was bad. I'd take inflatable viking swords over metal with hardcore mosh calls and telling people to move up and do pushups.

almost certain nothing will top the new brodequin album for me. that hasn’t left my ears since it dropped, everything else just pales in comparison. Record is a total ripper.my AOTY for sure! They took it to another level with this one not only in terms of writing but finally also production wise.

Used to dig Frozen Soul, but the weird turn they've made into a comedy troupe with the push-ups and MTG is a huge turn off. I'll just listen to Bolt Thrower

Death metal shouldn't be fun. Start a party thrash band if you want fun

frozen soul has written about three songs over the course of two albums so i can’t really blame them for pushing a gimmick

I'm playing a gig with Incantation in a few weeks. Are they worth sticking around for in 2024 or should I dip out after playing?

Word. Since having a kid last year, I tend to hit and run when playing local gigs, but I figured this one may be worth it. I was thinking about sticking around for Ringworm anyway.

My 9 year old was bummed they didn't play Chopped In Half. CC are consistently one of the best bands on the planet. Amon Amarth were fun and you're right, the stage show reminded me of Maiden. At one point the entire circle pit sat down and started rowing which was fucking hilarious. My kid wanted to get close to the pit during CC. Some massive rocker helped get him on my shoulders and then proceeded to smoke a bowl of crack with his buddies

This definitely falls into the "and shit" part of this thread since it's doomy and sludgy, but my old band put this out today. I had to quit shortly before recording because I couldn't commit to the practice schedule, but I still love these songs. A shit ton of Amenra was being listened to when they started to be written about five years ago, so if you like that vibe, I think you'll like this too. Playing with Spectral Voice in Chicago on Saturday if anyone will be at that. youtu.be/A5lDWuRVpnE?si=QdBzEOV1RQElUf6C

Nice. I see them Saturday. I saw Ossuary last night and they were so fucking good. Started off with “Supreme Degradation” which is my favorite song. Mild bangover.

I was talking to the guitarist of undergang last night and our conversation wen't as follows:
“You guys rocked, stoked to see you out here. I flew out to Baltimore to see you guys back in the fall” “So what are you doing out here??” “I live here!” “And you flew to the other side of the country to see us??? You’re a fucking nerd!” “…You guys sounded really good tonight…”
He was super stoked though, really nice dude.

Every time I have seen Undergang the shows were something else. The first time was Valentine’s day 2013, where I straight up overheated and fainted for no reason whatsoever during Scolex. The second time was 4th of July 2014, there were like a handful of people who weren’t playing the show there since Midnight and Black Death were playing another show across town, until like five minutes before Undergang wen't on at which point an entire normal person wedding party showed up, all paid the $5 cover, and just started buying everyone drinks and even the old people were sort of weirdly dancing to Undergang. Definitely a very David Lynch moment I’m glad I was dead sober for.

i’m sick of war metal too but this one is particularly gnarly. there are plenty of pit riffs so it’s not just blast blast blast blast…
edit: just noticing the video is age restricted (lol). it’s the debut album from primitive warfare
