Avatar was the third worst movie I saw in the theaters in this last decade. My buddy coaxed me into by saying "it will be fun if we get high beforehand." and it ended up being terminally boring for what felt like 5 hours.
The #1 worst movie I saw in the theaters this decade though was the first Alice In Wonderland remake. I wen't on a group date thing and there were times where my buddy and I would look at each other like "no fucking way" at the atrocities we were witnessing. I think people didnt lay enough hate on that one.

that one was shockingly bad. I remember when the trailers came out for it and in my head I thought "oh nah, that won't be good" but when a situation came up where we had to see it I was thinking "well shit maybe itll be lowkey ok and have a couple funny moments." I genuinely thought I was witnessing the death of steve carrell's career for a moment midway through it

This is why I almost never go to the theater. I cant imagine paying that much to see a complete turd in all seriousness, those three movies plus a couple shitty movie going experiences from shitty patrons were the reasons why my movie attendance has dropped rapidly in the last 4 years. I am so trepidatious about going to any movie in a theater now that I think I go less than 3 times a year at this point |

I only go if I KNOW I am going to enjoy it. The only bad movie Ive seen in the theater was that terrrrrrible movie about Owen Wilson and Ed Helms looking for their dad. I only saw that because I was with my family and we wen't on Christmas day.

the concept of the opening night is so funny. They keep pushing it back further into the week for big movies like "yo pay $45 to see the new star wars on tuesday night for a special sneak peek where you look over our staff's shoulders while they check the reel for any damage"

I'm in the same boat with going to the theater. If it's something i'm into and it's getting great reviews, then I'll wait a week so they initial hype dies down. Seeing Midsommer the week after its release with just a few of my bois and a scattering of other people was great (minus the other people laughing at the more disturbing parts).

The best opening night experience I've had in the theaters was The Dark Knight. That opening with the heist got me and the squad fucking amped

My local theater for the first Fast and the Furious movie, my friends older brother and his friends all had ~coo~ cars that they all parked on the sidewalk and had a car show and shit. THat was a dope opening night.
