There is a Red Wings store that opened up by the main office so I might peep that for ideas their stores are primarily for work boots but they should at least have some Iron Rangers and Moc Toes in there |

Are they good? I got a pair of the Weekender Chukka for work. Theyβre comfy. Theyβve got a decent number of boots that are pretty versatile. Good for outdoor stuff, but clean up well if you need em to. Warm enough for winter, but not too warm for summer. So, if youβre gonna spend upwards of $300 on footwear, not a bad value (the factory seconds are harder to find now). I got goofy ass feet and Redwings are one of the only brands that fit me well anymore. I still want a pair of the RW Blacksmiths (or a pair of classic Vibergs/Whites if I can luck out on a used pair). The Chippewa Apaches I got in 2016 are still kickin, though I canβt clean em up enough to wear in an office setting or anything like that any more. |

Are they good? yeah they're like baby's first boot for fashion guys but they're made in the US, goodyear welted so you can change the soles, all that shit. if you find a style you like, you can usually find them online with different soles or colors/finishes depending on where you look. you can also find places that sell factory seconds for a nice discount if you're into that |

zoning meeting last night was interesting. apparently all these short term rentals (airbnb's) have been operating illegally since July and now need to get variances in order to operate. however, they are still operating and no one is enforcing the law. only two owners out of the 50+ STR properties in my neighborhood have even bothered to go about things legally and apply for a variance. i let the committee know that my stance is that the correct number of short term rentals is zero since it takes housing stock away from working families. they agreed with me, and still allowed for temporary variances. at least i got them to cut the terms in half and reduce the amount of guests per stay, still feels like the committee just showed their tummies to a couple of rich dicks that are actively making our community worse. the other thing that rubbed me the wrong way was how clear the bias was against the east side of Northern Liberties where i live. they were shitting all over themselves about an airbnb on the 400 block of fairmount, but the one a block from my house was way worse and they didn't make a peep.

based on what we know about the big boys (uber, airbnb, tesla, facebook), it seems like being a "disruptor" is really just good for the short term but ends up doing more harm in the longrun...
