What is the deal with the streaming numbers again? I remember reading about it but I don't really understand The math works out to ~1500 streams equals 1 record sale

That's interesting but I don't get it because I'm still not going to stream the entire album, I'm probably going to jump around to just a few tracks

Now remember that there are literal millions of drake fans who are all gonna listen bare minimum one entire time through and boom, you get decent first week numbers

You could put a song on repeat for eternity and every 1500 plays you would get a "sale"

Drake made so many context specific songs on this thing that are all good, its kinda genius. Ratchet Happy Birthday and Summer Games are gonna be played endlessly

did anyone else read that little press release Drake putout with the new album? I feel like he is trying hard to trivialize the fact that he does use ghost writers like "yup, so what?" Which I guess is cool if you had to be in that position but now whenever I hear a particularly witty line or hear something that sounds a little slick I just assume he didn't write it, which is a weird place to want to have your image in

The guy who writes pretty much nothing he puts out. But every rapper with a budget uses people to add to stuff.

Listen to the last track he speaks to his baby No one actually cares if he speaks to his kid. He needs to be talking to adults, particularly Pusha.

Drake didn't use ghostwriters tho. Everybody credited
Besides, he actively writes for other people

Yeah yeah I know everyone does now and to whine about it is a little immature at this point but for some reason with him it bothers me more than others. I think it bothers me more because his whole manufactured image is this sort of smug, in-on-the-joke attitude like he got to the punchline before everyone else

I think Pusha is a nerd for dissing an RnB singer for using writers after a career of working with people who use writers

There is literally nothing wrong with ghost writing unless the person is going to try and puff up and pretend they don't use that shit. Collaboration is a beautiful thing and pop music is a big factory of collaborators and songwriters.

I am like 3/4 through it. There are quite a few great tracks and all the filler stuff is atleast pleasent to the ears however as a full project I am leaning towards “it’s ight”.

He's even listed in the credits.

if you're crediting people, it's not ghostwriting tho. Kanye has been pretty open about his collaborative efforts and crediting people for writing. i mean, Drake credits people too, the whole ghostwriter thing really was about when Meek said Quentin was writing for Drake and not getting credited which is a little more fonked up.
i don't really care about people using writers at all, Drake is still a giant cornball.

Quentin Miller was credited
I think it was over the verse on Meek's RICO but really Meek was mad cuz Drake didn't promote his album enough. The MMG dudes have established history of being Twitter babies if they feel someone doesn't promote them enough.
