tinder, bumble, etc. is purely to get laid. i don't care how anyone wants to slice it up, and it's cool if you want to use it for any other reasons, but that's how i view it which is why i will never purposely go into it as a relationship tool. organic chemistry will always be the best for me. apps do nothing except make it vastly easier for everyone. Tinder and bumble are basically just physical speed dating, which is fine but not just about sex. There's almost always a chance to make an emotional/engagement impact before the sex stuff. Not sure what the numbers are like this year, but of the 30 weddings we shot last year, 18 of those couples met on tinder and had been together for an average of three years. |

Not knocking people on dating sites, I met my girlfriend on one and I'm sure there are a fair number of attractive guys, but I feel like most girls are going to take someone they already know and care about over sifting through brah_lifes online.

i agree that's how they were developed and the intent behind that, but it's just not reality from my experience. I think it heavily depends on where you're at, though. In my experience, bigger cities have more of a hookup scene than smaller ones. issalso in general more normal to have sex sooner in the former.
I became a bit cynical during my time using Tinder and Bumble in the US, but recently I've been having a bit of a different experience where I'm actually having really good conversations with some girls. And it does seems like it's more about the emotional connection this time rather than just wanting to get together to fuck. If I remember correctly, there have also been some people in the B9 thread that said they met their girlfriends using these apps.
I feel like this is symptomatic of dating in big cities and having more lines in the water. The more options they have, generally, the less initial investment people are willing to make unless they're trying to swing for the fences or there's just that instant spark. |
