Yeah I guess I’m feeling a bit stupid for making assumptions and coming off all self righteous. Not my intention and i apologize.
If I can get my foot out of my mouth and shift gears. I have made a few attempts at a Mexican tofu marinade and hands down the best one is a Carne Asada sauce. Marinade for 4-6 hours. Grill. I’ve had shitty weather so have been baking on a grill pan in the oven. It’s been terrific but I can’t wait to finally try it grilled outside over wood.

Gonna be in Brooklyn this week and I'm overwhelmed with options. Anyone have a link for the best spots or their own list? Would be appreciated! You definitely will not have to eat at Burger King. Personal go-to list: Toad Style Screamers Pizza Modern Love Fermento Jungle Cafe Wild Ginger On Mondays after 6 you can get probably the best faux fried chicken sliders ever made at Superiority Burger in the East Village. Not Brooklyn but worth going. None of these were on a list I've been working on so thanks! Def making the trip to Superiority Burger.

Costco has Chinese five spice tofu nuggets and goddamn do they taste good. had them in a stir fry last night and it's gotta be the best straight tofu preparation I've had from something I bought at the store.

Right on... and I meant to add that Anchored Inn, though mostly non-veg, sometimes has a killer jackfruit chimichanga as a daily special

Daiya is ok if you're in some suburban spot but a pizza place in NY should have some more decadent shit

Champs is backed. Paulie Gee's has great pizza but horrible lighting.

Screamers is owned by Champs and it does not suck ass if you eat the right slices. They also have a newer place called Hartbreakers.
Haven't been to the new Paulie Gees slice spot, but if you go to the regular restaurant you'll have to wait two hours to eat a tiny ass pizza.

I totally agree Champs is overpriced and overrated and way too long of a wait. But as far as vegan junk food diner shit in BK, they are probably most comprehensive in that vein. I still dont recommend going there if you value your time.
They also got robbed of several thousands of dollars a couple years ago because their back door was unlocked after close. So yeah, vegans can be dumb too.

When I was back home in Chicago this past fall for my birthday, we wen't there for dinner and to my utter shock and delight, they had Detroit style on the menu and could make it vegan. I fucking wen't there twice in like 5 days lol.

I was in chi last week and wen't to Dimo's for the first time. So good dimos is dece, good option when my band would play shows at subterannean around the corner. paulie gees is def the best vegan pizza i had there. my usual go to when i lived there was ordering a vegan za from whole foods on wednesdays when they run their one topping promo on a large pizza for like $10 or $11? good ass deal. boiler room's was good but unless you wen't the one day of the week they offered vegan slices, you had to order a whole fucking pizza. also, their service there is notoriously awful.

Not to fan the flames of the Impossible debate, but did anyone else see this recently? It's pretty sketchy, although the guy is also an insufferable whiner.
Edit: ignore the sensational headlines... by "us" he just means him and his other vlogger friend

I couldn't watch 15 minutes of that, but from what I saw: he already admits he doesn't support the Impossible brand, goes to a natural food convention show, eats an Impossible meatball, finds out they put dairy cheese in it, then gets mad. They added it specifically to the meatball, the Impossible meat is vegan on its own.

Chris is a friend of mine but I just don't watch YouTube channels... what's the gist? I don't mean to insult your friend. It just comes off like he's throwing a fit in order to expose something that isn't really there or that isn't much of a surprise to people... and using clickbait language like "IMPOSSIBLE LIED TO US" is misleading in this case. Anyways, he ate an Impossible meatball at a natural foods (not vegan) convention that may or may not have had parmesan in it. When he asked why on earth they would do that, he was told quite frankly that their target demographic is meat eaters. A marketing woman came over and tried to tell him that yesterday they had cheese in them, but today they had vegan cheese. It's pretty clear from the video that she was making shit up to try and save face in front of the camera. So yeah, big misunderstanding and major fuck-up by the people working that booth. He's right to be upset, but he ain't no Upton Sinclair. Impossible burgers are often served with real cheese on them, it's not a new thing.

In the second video he gets on the phone with a woman from Impossible and tries over and over to get an apology out of her. He seems surprised when all she gives him are semi-rehearsed, vapid statements.
The most valid point brought up in the whole thing is "what if somebody who had a dairy allergy ate that unknowingly?" And my guess is that someone with a dairy allergy would have checked first.

The only reason these products exist is an attempt to open a new market to sell. And since they're attempting to imitate meat so accurately, it's not unreasonable to assume these products are aimed toward "meat-eaters." So I wasn't shocked at all to learn they are being served with dairy products at places like Carls Jr. - a burger joint, for one. It's not like veganism "won." Far from it. I'm used to researching every food item I order and restaurant I attend, not sure why that would change with these new products.
I mean I get it that it is upsetting to accidentallyn eat non-vegan food of course, but mistakes happen?

My point of not watching YouTube channels aside from basically WhatCulture is just what you said about the click bait language... I don't need that. Selling things as "vegan" isn't lining coffers ridiculously fast so the businesses are doing as little as possible to gain the most. Seriously, thanks for saving me 28 minutes. We're on the same wavelength. Also, just had Champs Diner again, mm-mm.

Impossible is also big in the observant Jewish community BECAUSE of cheese. It's not kosher to eat a regular cheeseburger, but you can put cheese on a fake meat burger. I know of at least two modern orthodox spots in Denver that carry Impossible.
