I watched this movie this weekend and it fucking ROCKED. How have I never heard of this before? Its like The Terminator meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers and it kicked so much ass. i was just trying to remember the name of this movie a couple days ago, thanks!

UFO Sweden - inspired from the 50's sci-fi movies. There's abduction, time travels and shit like that. Not bat, maybe too long.

Didnt expect to see Risky Business entering the Criterion Collection but prime Rebecca De Mornay *swoon* Someone on twitter pointed out now that TC is at Warner Bros this could be the result of that (and maybe we'll be getting some others soon like 'Eyes Wide Shut'?) 'Risky Business' is underrated imo, great flick. I always paired it with 'Cocktail' (having seen neither) but now I realize one is muchhhhhhhhhh better than the other haha

'Citizens Band' (1977) The interlaced stories of several characters in a small town united by their use of CB (citizen’s band) radio.link^^ (1080p, 6.76gb) I might delete soon so download quick if possible. Like I said, I've been going through Jonathan Demme movies and finally watched this one. Feels like a post-'Nashville' (1975) movie, Demme does the big ensemble cast movie that comes together at the end well. Maybe it's not 'Silence of the Lambs' or 'Something Wild' (or even 'Melvin & Howard') but cool to see what he was doing in the seventies while experimenting with genre, tone, form.

is Civil War going to be A24's right-wing heel turn or will it be a pussified liberal power fantasy? I’m betting on it being neither. I’m really betting on Garland leaning into subterfuge to depict a conflict where no one can articulate why they are even fighting and killing their fellow countrymen. Well look who nailed it. I loved this movie. I feel like this is what it is depending on what you bring into the theater with you. And as a black pilled leftist who has next to zero hope for this stupid ass dumb af country I felt it on every level. Objectively, it’s beautifully shot and expertly crafted from start to finish. I don’t know what else to say really.

Didnt expect to see Risky Business entering the Criterion Collection but prime Rebecca De Mornay *swoon* It's the first Tom Cruise movie in the collection, which is kinda shocking.

I'm taking a history class this semester about the Cold War so I decided to make myself super depressed by watching 20 Days in Mariupol and The Act of Killing back to back. Truly shows the bleakness of humanity when powerful people make decisions with little thought about the people they affect.

criterion is weird like that - for example, i'm pretty sure they only have one irish film in the entire collection
glad they're finally doing Soy Cuba, easily one of the most vigorous films ever to be made
i love their new 24 hour stream too - slept all night on my couch waking up to random movies, it's like being a kid again

Wouldn't be surprised if the first (and only) Tom Hanks movie to get a CC release would be 'Cloud Atlas'.

I will check this out - Something Wild is one of my all time favorites - might be Liotta at hus finest and, of course, New Order makes the soundtrack.

Watched Drunken Master II the other night and I can’t stop thinking about how out of pocket Jackie Chan’s stepmom was. Had me dying several times.

Monkey Man, The Old Oak, and Civil War are all playing here next week, but I can only go to one... Kinda leaning The Old Oak cause Ken Loach is my guy and it'll be a smaller crowd, but I feel like the other two will probably be better in the cinema rather than home.
