the substance is the best movie i’ve seen in years and had an older woman ask me what i thought and i said that and her jaw dropped as she proceeded to tell me it was the worst thing she’s ever seen

I didn’t hear about it at all until like 3 days ago. My gf is gonna go with my sister to see it tomorrow, I’m curious to hear how it is

I walked out of the theater feeling like I didn’t want to eat again for a really long time. I’m not usually squeamish with movies but this shit was a lot to handle.

My stomach was in knots after Substance ended. Loved it but honestly don’t know if I’d watch it again.

i got back into using it but now it’s hard to watch a movie without constantly being like “yeah i’m gonna give this a three. eh that scene was pretty cool, maybe 3.5. ah damn i hated that ending, 2.5”

Finding out now that Ray Liotta was supposed to play Dennis Quaid's character in The Substance but died before filming began. If Ray made it, this would probably be my favorite movie of all-time.

I think a lot of criticism I've seen with the movie is that people seem to just not like how over the top and in your face it is when that seems to be the entire point of it. I also do not understand this idea that we, the viewer, are supposed to be disgusted by Demi Moore's character rather than empathetic to her situation but to each their own!

It's an incredible resource for keeping track of the movies you have watched and the ones you want to watch.

I wouldn't worry too much about the rating system, I think it's just a helpful tool in communicating to the reader (or to remind yourself later) how much you liked it (& how hard you recommend it.)

The nice thing about following people that you know is that it puts a lot more weight and context to their reviews/ratings. At this point Rotten Tomatoes is completely useless for me. I don't care what a bunch of anonymous movie critics think about a movie. Who are they? Do we agree on anything? Who knows, it's just a number.

Rebel Ridge was a blast. I'll never doubt Saulnier.

I am glad Boyega was replaced by Aaron Pierre. His size, charisma and general demeanor fits the character perfect.

I don’t think I’ve ever even looked at Letterboxed but maybe I should. I started writing down every movie and show I watched in notes on my phone like five years ago (first time watches only, of course).
