I was reading an argument on whether or not Philip Rivers is a Hall of Famer if he never plays in a SB earlier and it really got me thinking. The biggest knock against him besides his lack of playoff success is that he never won any individual awards, either, despite being top ten all-time in yards, TD's, completions, and completion %. The obvious answer for that is he played in the same conference as arguably the two best QB's of all time during his entire career.
I understand the argument against him, but I find it hard to believe a 15+ year starter that finishes top ten in basically every benchmark stat for his position doesn't get in the hall.
What do you think?

Tough to say. I feel like the HOF is an indicator of who the most impactful players were in a given era. And with at least 5 guys ahead of him in his era, that does not bode well imo. Unless we see a waterfall of like Eli/Ben/Rivers/Brees/Brady all within like a 2 year period.

The NFL HOF is the toughest to get into so I don't think he gets in. Manning, Brady, Brees are 100% first-ballot shoo-ins, Ben gets in before him, Eli probably too.
Also, if you wanted to make the argument that failing to so much as GET to the AFCCG with that '06 squad should keep him out I wouldn't take the opposing viewpoint.

No doubt the two SB MVP's put Eli over him so I'm with you there. It's such an interesting conversation because his volume stats are all-time great caliber but he's 4-5 in the playoffs. There are definitely worse QB's than Rivers in the HoF but are there any modern era QB's in that never played in a SB?
