Match will still be good and it invalidates the tournament NJPW had to not put a guy in there. They just booked themselves into a corner by choosing the backup they did or by not just putting Ishii in the match outright so they could go with a more well-known name as the alternate. At least it's not Yoshi-Hashi.

We also lost Andrade vs Ospreay due to Mexican wrestling politics (which tells me Naito was likely never booked for the card since his return date wasn't set while this was being worked out months ago). Alvarez seemed to think the 4 way for the IWGP was originally supposed to be a tag with someone other than Hangman teaming with Okada (likely OC). That leaves the 8-man which def feels like a thrown together match and idk if anyone knows what that was supposed to be initially outside of those bts, maybe Hangman was gonna be involved? I think both heavyweight championship matches are definite upgrades from what was planned for sure. |

If Mox was really gonna have to work with Sammy and Jericho then yeah, dodged a bullet I definitely wanted to see Andrade vs. Ospreay though, Andrade has been killing it since Meltzer called him lazy and he got pissed. I believe the Lucha Bros would've been there too as they made a big deal out of them not being able to work it too
