Yeah both the GCW cards look pretty good. Los Macizos can do all the modern lucha stuff (sloppily but still) and are also batshit crazy. Them vs. The Briscoes will rock. Also Maki Itoh and Rina Yamashita in town, and Mox gonna beat the shit out of Effy.

there is something truly special as a mexican american, seeing mexican americans wrestle a very tradtional mexican style and it not only be good, not great but truly an all time display of pro wrestling that will always make me so goddamn happy man. i remember watching this when i was young and always revisiting it once a year prolly more as the years have gone by and its just so timeless. its truly a perfect wrestling match.

I forget where I had this on my gwcw match list but at worst itβs the 2nd best wcw singles match of the 90s. Itβs perfect and itβs crazy how complete and epic it feels and itβs sub 15 minutes what a masterpiece.

lol it's no secret I'm heavily biased towards Eddie Guerrero and WCW so obv my top 3 matches are Shinjiro Otani vs Guerrero, Rey Vs Guerrero, Dean Malenko Vs Guerrero. But if we're being unbiased then all Flair vs Steamboat matches, Chris Benoit vs Bret Hart, and Sting vs Vader belong in the conversation.

If you think about it, Eddie was the complete package. He could work the crowd, be the face or the heel, he had charisma, he could do lucha and make it work with American styles, he picked up the Japanese style so effortlessly, he was one of the best at selling moves, just look at the Rey match and watch the way Eddie reacts to the moves, it just flows so naturally. He would walk the ropes, but he could also hang with the big boys. If you needed him to mat wrestle he could go toe to toe with dudes like Benoit or Angle, and he was durable as hell. The dude put his body through hell and back, but he never slowed down. Hard to argue that he wasn't an all timer, maybe not the GOAT, but the blueprint for what a wrestler should be. |
