I just got home from a meeting with a state career advisor and wore this old shirt my father gave me last year when he was cleaning his closet. When I got home, I noticed a small hole in it.* Since it's (a) plaid, and (b) reconstituted wool with a fairly loose weave, I think I'm going to patch it. Checking here to see if I like the position of this Crucifix jawn here.  * Of course, it's no longer in rotation as work wear after this. I only wore it in the first place because it was 21Β°F when I left the house and I decided to walk. Edit: As an established railroad history geek, I also really like the color scheme here. Very reminiscent of early Baltimore & Ohio diesels, and if the blue were two shades lighter it would work for the Delaware & Hudson (my favorite). |

So what is that, they just tell you like, βyeah go work in an office?β Since I'm trying to work in an office after working as a cook and a driver for years (and after spending my twen'ties and early thirties touring and dicking around), it's more about figuring out how to go about that. Transferable skills, training, and so on. I took the state PCO test the last time it was offered and have been sending resumes in response to canvass notices from several state agencies, but the civil service hiring process takes for-fucking- ever. |
