I dunno, I haven’t looked up the nobel prize thing much.
I don’t know whether the common sense conception of sound is or is not reducible to something mind independent. Probably not..? I mean, without biological organisms with visual systems there is no color and maybe that holds for sound….?
I’m confused by how people go straight from the conclusion that direct realism is false (true) to the broader conclusion that the universe is a simulation, or what the significance of that is. Don’t have to go all the way to quantum mechanics to determine that human beings might be systematically misperceiving the world.

Universe exists without perception and it’s incoherent to believe otherwise, but I dunno the whole thing seems like a bad dichotomy. There isn’t a neutral observation language because conceptually unaided pointing doesn’t signify anything, but I’ve never understood why that’s a catastrophic problem.
