Ways to look busy at your cubicle

There’s only so many different excel spreadsheets I can have open. Give me some tips to further reduce the amount of work I do in a day.

Expanding on the Excel thing, I built a spreadsheet that generates random baseball plate appearance outcomes based on prior season probabilities. It keeps track of baserunners and scoring, so I can play fun little pretend baseball games with myself.

I used to go on these websites that made reddit look like an excel spreadsheet or a word document. Reddit is painful enough as it is but it helped. No need to alt tab or anything

I used to come in and take a loooooong time making my coffee every morning, like 15 minutes setting up the drip machine. Then Id go and sit on the toilet for about an hour. I had about 20 minutes of work a day if I was lucky.

Not a cubicle but I take my personal laptop into work and use imessage to text my wife and discord to chat with the boys. People just assume you’re working if you’re on a laptop and not your phone, but high school kids really don’t care either way which gives an advantage.

When I was still working in the office I kept BiL open on mobile mode with signatures/avatars turned off. The grey color scheme matched the grey color scheme of my operating system/software, so it was the puuuuurrrrfect crime.

If I’m walking around I’ll always have an ipad or piece of paper w/lots of info and look down at it like im doing stuff. Carry a pen and also write semi relevant related random shit down occasionally. Costanza annoyed thing helps.

Get those nerd virgin screen cover things that look like transitions lenses in velcro shoe style mode when you’re not looking at them from dead on. Turn your screen so it’s always in “my transitions lenses haven’t transitioned to clear yet” for anyone standing in the threshold of your cubicle.

this isn't for the purpose of looking busy because I am bored BUT I do have some chatty fucking cathy's in my office and I will sometimes dial my cellphone (which I have on silent) on my office landline and pretend I am on hold with someone if my boss (who is the worst offender) comes my way

For sure random spreadsheets, copying website texts and putting it on word, so an article or book you’ve been wanting to read. A lot of shuffling papers. Sitting with my back to a wall facing people on my MacBook and playing a shit ton of Civilzation was my go-to for a while.
