Ok board. I'm PRETTY sure this person is scamming but I can't figure out how.
She messaged me on a dating app(she messaged first, it was not a response to me) saying she's a 65 year old retired lawyer living in Dallas. Told me she wants to be my sugar mama. She said if I bought a Visa Vanilla card she'd load it with money. But to activate it, I would have to put $50 on the card.
She claims to prefer that over PayPal/cashapp or any of those.
And all she wants from me is to sext. Said shed give me $500 a week. So she wouldn't have my address, or any of my banking information. All she has is my phone number and maybe my location.
So yea I feel like this is a scam, but idk how. Like is this just a ploy to get $50 from me? Why me? I'm sure she could find people nearby who meet her need more than I.
Plus I'm trans (says it in my profile on there and im wearing makeup in my profile pic and I "don't pass for female" or whatever)
Help me BiL. Have any of you ever been in this situation? Am I just being too skeptical?

Most spam experiences I've encountered on dating apps usually involved getting your credit card number. The worst that could happen is you're down 50 bucks.

i investigate credit card/collusive/laundering fraud scams for a living and this is 100% fraud. HOWEVER, you can benefit from it. the end game is the fraudster will load money from stolen credit cards into your prepaid. they will then eventually ask for a "favor" in sending money to a third party. the third party will actually be the fraudster and the goal is for you to be a money mule.
just keep the money and cease all interaction with them. whatever threat you get for not following their instructions just understand youre probably dealing with someone in nigeria.
the prepaid wont be traced, the legit cardholders will get their money back through chargebacks with their bank, and you get the $$$.
