But the thing is here that you're conflating bad taste with corporate/ip/brand infringement/damage and that's kinda been the whole issue from the jump. Twitter's never cared about moderating free speech, it's when the platform becomes a tool for litigable offenses that it becomes an issue. Which is why trump didn't get kicked for dunking on people, he got kicked for inciting criminal activity and libel. Complain about the moderation all you want but it kinda did a pretty fantastic job of operating what is basically a freeform messageboard(which is always going to be a regressive cesspool bc people garbage) that wen't unappreciated bc there's always something to whatabout. This shit's different bc elon has no idea what he wants or wants twitter to be, other than popular and profitable. Cutting the moderation and core teams from the company have left it completely at the whim of the masses with no ideology or direction, so it's getting filled with actually actionable posts that's compounded by the fact there's now no revenue bc advertisers aren't letting their brand appear next to any of this shit. Like imagine if a fucking wild and busy haunted house caught on fire, you wouldn't really notice at first until it was nothing but smoldering ashes and the line to get in was just a couple people taking pictures of the debris. |

I think I kind of agree with this, though I don't want to. Whereas a place like 4chan (or the even shittier chans) still had a kind of seedy/underground "have to go looking" sort of feel, Twitter will just be people doing and saying the worst shit with little repercussion. The world's largest social media platform will just become a Call of Duty lobby but with the ability to post pictures/vids. There was already enough violent/homophobic/racist/sext shit that got posted there Elon just took the pretense of moderation away and emboldened it. |

My replies show up out of order, the algorithm has changed dramatically, I’ve gotten kicked off the app twice, im now being shown right wing grifters in my feed, I’ve seen the n word more than I ever have before, I’ve “unfollowed” friends that I definitely didn’t, I’ve lost followers (not bots, that would be tight), there’s an uptick in bots, etc, etc
