I found a review of his garage claiming they got their car back with huel in the manifold and pb cookies in the stick shift. They rated it a 5/5.

Nothing says “walk on home, boy” like a lifted 1500 ![](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ae/f6/5e/aef65e7a1184f024c03a5eb664cdba39.jpg) A kid I wen't to high school with had one like this (brand new of course). He also got the word "HOCKEY" tattooed on his arm, because he played hockey. Explains that tattoo I saw the other day on poster Worship’s forearm that just read “DOLEZAL PUSSY”

I knew a guy who just got REGRET on his forearm I assume because he thought it was funny and didn't have the money for NO REGRETS actually yeah that was the reason. Boy I could go on about that dude for hours.

Is buying a diesel in 2023 dumb? We have an opportunity to be a 2017 vw golf with only around 40k miles for pretty cheap but it's diesel.

If the cost of diesel is comparable to gas in Germany and the parts and repairs costs are also comparable, there's nothing particularly bad/scary about diesels. They have a unique set of problems compared to a gas engine, but I wouldn't say it's any better or worse, just different. If it's turbocharged that *does* add an expensive level of complexity if something goes wrong, especially if it's a complex turbo design (some use both antifreeze and engine oil for cooling, for instance, although I can't remember how the VW ones work)

Supposedly Alfred Hitchcock's favorite film! *.* The T/A is quite "lit", as I'm told the youngsters are saying. Almost definitely slower than the General Lee in a drag race; the late 70s were a time when American engines were being choked by smog restrictions (which is good), to the point where you had a 6.6L V8 putting out only 200 horsepower (which is bad). However I dig the vibe, the stance, the media it appears in, and the much-reduced size of the Confederate flag on the Bandit T/A way more How about you? I hope you got a kick out of seeing my avatar in motion

btw there was apparently some cut footage from Smokey & The Bandit of the Japanese trucker (portrayed by Bill Saito) talking with Bandit on the CB prior to the scene where he knocks Sheriff Justice's door off. If anybody knows where to find this I would love to know!

V cool. I believe Bandit’s scaled-down rebel flag is a reflection of his and Snowman’s being extremely down with the brothas, as depicted in various scenes in the film.

So here is a question from ME to YOU, folks.
Several months back I helped out an old friend of mine. Like friends since young times, schoolyard pals, that sort of thing. His car took a shit and he needed something *very* cheap, even though I think he makes more dough than me, but I'm not one to ask questions.
Anyway, a customer of mine was getting rid of her old car, it's a mid-00s Buick Park Avenue. Great shape, needed a few things, but nothing major. Runs great. The customer is kind of a strange person and didn't really know how to sell the car and was going to sell it to some random for $500. I was like, "Whoa whoa, let me tell my friend and he'll give you $1000."
So we buy the car, I do a fair amount of FREE work for him, all the brakes, a wiper motor, rear struts, more I'm forgetting. Nothing major but that shit would add up *quick* if he took it somewhere else.
Fast forward to now and he won't leave me alone about this stupid car. Oh I can feel a vibration, when I do this this happens, my dome light won't work. What is it, how much does it cost. Every time I talk to this guy there's some problem, and it's almost like he wants me to feel bad because the car sucks (it doesn't, it's a good car on the whole).
I've thought about just being like, fuck off, I got you a car for 1000 bucks, beyond insane friend deal. I've tried gently getting him to understand this, but I just got off the phone with him about some other seemingly minor issue.
So my question is, how do you deal with shit like this? Like, favors for friends where they don't really get the deal or understand what you've done for them? Never really ran into anything like this before, and I've helped out a lot of people. This guy is one of my oldest friends.

I’m confounded by this sort of behavior, and low-awareness people, generally. Maybe you should send him an invoice.

I’m confounded by this sort of behavior, and low-awareness people, generally. Maybe you should send him an invoice. It's frustrating. He's been a great friend to me at many points in my life which is why I'm putting up with it. I think it's a combination of a lot of factors. He's really big into therapy (which is awesome) and when we were younger he was kind of a doormat for a lot of people (we had separate friend groups) so I think therapy helped him with that, but maybe he's "over-asserting" himself a bit here. Also knows nothing about cars. It's like when people come in and scoff loudly when you tell them a totally normal price for something. "I could do that in my driveway for a quarter of that!" Like, yeah bitch, you could, but you didn't, and now you're here, so what do we do?

Honestly though they're probably raising the prices because the price of everything is going up, and it probably costs more than you think to do it at home. Do you go to a Jiffy Lube type place or a "real" shop?

Pb what does your friend do for work and how can you exploit his labor to your benefit in exchange for the favors you do him?
Also speaking of oil and exploiting peers’ free labor: I have a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq Blue hybrid and get the synthetic oil. How frequently do I REALLY have to change that? Is every 3k or 5k fine or overkill? Can’t it last longer bc synthetic?

He does some kind of logistics for a trucking company where he negotiates rates with truckers (no idea how it works beyond that). Great idea though, I should try to get him to have a new La-Z-Boy fall off a truck right in front of my apartment Re: your oil, your owner's manual should have their recommended interval in there somewhere. My shop does 3 months/3000 mi for blend and 5 months/5000 miles for full syn. It may be overkill, and I'm no engineer, but pushing oil changes can and does wreck engines. I see it frequently. With full synthetic, if you're not driving too often I would say it's ok to push the date off a little bit as long as you're not exceeding the mileage. If nothing else, having your car in a shop every few months to where a mechanic has eyes on it is the best thing for the longevity of your car in general.
