Even as a kid first gettin into punk I couldn’t stand oi, never came around to it, do think it’s odd that it has gotten more popular again in the last couple years.

it's odd, but i'm here for it. it's one of those subgenres of punk and hardcore that i'll always go back to. give it a couple years and it'll go away. i could be wrong, but i appreciate that less folks feel the need to larp as full-on skinheads this time around.

Haven’t heard the Skinhead LP but I really liked the EP’s. It’s not really oi but that seemed to be the point based on the lyrics.

i liked first skinhead EP but listened to that new record last night and it definitely stinks. like CMI, they just rewrite worse versions of their old songs and the jokes aren't funny when you've already heard em

Oi is best served in small doses, 2 song singles or 4 song EPs. 86 Mentality understood this. Anything more than that and I start spacing out.
Except Syndrome 81. They rock and the LP is their best work.

I fuck more with UK82 than I do Oi, idk it just never did it for me and all the kids I didn’t like when I was younger listened to oi so it was a big reason I avoided that scene.

Is Oi-influenced hardcore an actual thing or are we just calling it hardcore? Because I was really enjoying that period of time where every band coming out sounded like Boston Strangler. Peacebreakers, Chain Rank, Creem etc.
Edit: because I know someone is gonna say those bands don't sound like Boston Strangler; yes, I know, I'm making a generalization. They are all unique in their own ways.
