Quality Control HQ coming for 2023. So many heaters That label was always cool but theyโve been on an insane roll in 2022 and donโt seem to be slowing down at all. The incoming Killing Frost EP (or LP, not sure) is gonna be something to look for as well. But yeah, Mastermind, Arma X, Foreseen, Antagonizr, Existence and a couple moreโฆ all in less that 12 months, I canโt even keep up haha. |

I would say scowl โsold outโ significantly harder. Every release sounds like a new, more radio-friendly band.
Song is fine though just sounds like normal radio rock from whenever they still played guitar music on the radio

i dont really consider "sell-out" an insult per se, bc im sure anyone who likes playing music would like to play it professionally for substantial pay. but it does infer that you are trading up -- giving up the "underground" (whatever that means w the internet now) for the aboveground and by proxy soften the edges, make it more palatable, switch up sound, yadda yadda. it is what it is. the reasons for signing with a major & compromising musically make sense. works for some, not for others as we've seen 100 times in the past 30+ years.
but scowl were already in question for the past year or two about actual relevance to a scene & poser shit, so its extra ass that they goin full tilt into arena butt rock. say what you will about perennial joke-butts Krimewatch, who are often insultingly mentioned in the same breath as Scowl, but at least it was a band of actual hardcore punk people.
