also re: nj sonic show -- scowl members obv come from the scene, theyve been on hc bills their whole existence until this year. this particular show tho was prob because they were in PA recording and guitarist of chemical fix is now full time in scowl and prob got em on the show

Itβs objectively better than their hardcore stuff. Still bad, though. Most of the more hyped hardcore bands are just not very good songwriters.
I donβt see how they used hardcore as a βstepping stoneβ, and I think youβd just plain have to be out of touch with reality to think that. The list of bands that have some roots in hardcore that ended up with at least some college radio play is absolutely huge.

Scowl was a βlast minuteβ add to that sonic show. P. Sure they were on tour with limp bizkit, at the time, and happened to be in the area. Could be wrong about the bizkit part, but I on another note, I am pretty sure they come from the same scene as drain, gulch, sunami, etc

Just popping in to say that Code Orange is still down for the core, always have been. I'm sure everyone in Scowl is also down for the core, but their band has always been ass and appealed to (intentional or not idk) the casual enjoyer of aggressive alternative music. I do wonder if this was part of their contract with PBR?

If I was the band I would be sweating cause itβs so plain to see theyβre elevating her as THE STAR and building it around her. This is what happened to Paramore and No Doubt. it's kinda "the biz" 101. it's easier to work/work with one star over a band. |
