I am once again asking for an extra ticket to mindforce tonight. Gonna just head over there after work and see if I can score an extra from someone outside if not.

Enforced always was like the lil bro of power trip the lil bro that plays fast and nonstop slayer riffs I feel like you have said this multiple times in different threads, but Enforced doesn't play any faster than Power Trip. They are both equally chuggy/moshy/groovy and fast. They both rule.

new All Out War stream on Revolver mag.
AOW has been a top 3 favorite of mine for 25 years. Theyβve put out absolute ass beaters one after another. But Iβm not really feeling this one. Maybe Iβm only half way paying attention because Iβm busy but on first listen it seems like thereβs too many blast beats and not enough breakdowns(I know that sounds gay) Hope it grows on me the more I listen to it. not sure where to post this so perhaps this will be best suited here:
when did acacia strain get accepted by the greater hardcore scene? unless i've been living under a rock this entire time i've always took them as a myspace deathcore/scene band. now i'm regularly seeing their name attached to hardcore bands and gigs, they're playing shows with hardcore bands, and modern hardcore bands are also co-signing them?
(i am saying this without having ever heard a single note from this band but they're like emmure, no?)

the singer? has been talking up legit hardcore bands for awhile and all the goofy acacia strain fans from way back have grown up into regular degular hardcore kids

i don't know what they sound like but i think i saw them once with terror and hatebreed. i left mid-set to go look at hot sauce at the grocery store a few blocks away (straight edge activities)

Acacia has been taking out smaller hardcore acts out for over a decade or so now, plus I think they sort of fell out of the circle of metal/deathcore bands that would become big hits on those giant flyover state monster energy drink festivals and got more widely adopted by the "metal"/normie hard rock crowds. Emmure's first album sounds like Acacia Strain but everything after that has been probably some of the earliest flirtations of nu-metal revival and adding shitty panic chords and edm to heavy music.

I was never a fan of acacia strain and youβre right there does seem to be some revisionist history on them. Actually they had beef with Emmure back in 2014 I believe but yes in terms of emmure these two bands are pretty terrible. Acacia Strain would be on bills with bands like Job For A Cowboy or If Hopes Dies back in the day. Never my scene, but again Iβm more punk orientated and these bands are metal kill everyone in the room.

Thanks for reminding me of the it dies today Depeche Mode cover. Some of this songs were also pretty chunky and could def pass off as ignorant hardcore today if it wasnβt for the weak ass vocals.

I think a lot of it has to do with deathcore like that being more accessible for this or that so now you have more βhardcore kidsβ who know Acacia Strain or Emmure than Amdi Petersens Armi or Skitkids. The name of the game is accessibility, not nuance. There are kids who literally REFUSE to discover music that isnβt on Spotify now.

And Iβm pretty sure the first JFAC ep still rips, definitely a genre defining album before it got commodified and over saturated.

part of it is that there aren't really any true, definable ethos within hardcore anymore other than, i don't know... acceptance of minority groups. if drain or mindforce got asked to open a tour package for lorna shore and carnifex they'd both likely do it in a heartbeat. bands like kublai khan straight up probably use the same guitar tuning and production style as the acacia strain so for hxc kids the lines are blurred, for better or for worse.

I mean were their ever? The lines have been blurred since the beginning. I think about all the weird shit they were doing in the 90s And then yeah the early 00s were even weirder, trustkill and victory were putting out all kinds of stuff. Hare Thorne heights was on the same label as Hatebreed, and the trustkill roster was all over the fucking place and that was 20 years ago. So like idk this is just gen zβs version.

sure, but in mid to late 00s bands and scenes were able to get away from a lot of the trendier "heavy" and "aggressive" music that was aired on fuse TV and embedded on a scene kids myspace page, and began tirelessly restructuring hardcore back to its roots; or at least closer to them. you'd think labels and promotors would've learned their lesson, sadly it's looking like that shit is rearing its ugly head again.

I don't think the current state of poseur-acceptance is comparable to the '90s or '00s. Hatred for poseurs in the '90s reached parodic levels of corniness. SLC Punk anyone?
These days because of social media, you don't have to dress like the subcultural group you most identify with anymore. That means that Gen Z kids are not punks or hardcore kids or whatever. They're ~*~InDiViDuAlS~*~* so they don't really commit. The same kids are punks, metalheads, deathcore kids, hardcore tough guys, crusties, goths, and hip hop heads all at once. I listen to all of that shit(except deathcore/metalcore), but I've always been a punk rocker first and foremost. I do, however, appreciate skinhead culture because it has remained distinct and retains its attitude.

I donβt really care, sometimes I do just to be a dick on the internet, but itβs all whatever. Let more kids go to shows and see what itβs about, more often than not they dense nuggs of fat buds themselves out. Thereβs only so much room for tender queers and tik tok punks.
Someone once said: hardcore is for anyone but itβs not for everyone and thats the realest shit i ever heard.
