I loved myspace deathcore in that era and the acacia strain was one of my favorite bands. They played with cruel hand a couple times in the early 2010s and thats pretty much what got me into "real" hardcore. The acacia strain definitely leans more hardcore, at least in their earlier stuff with 2 step parts and stuff like that. But they leaned heavily into the whole "lets just tune to drop G and play open chugs" that was super boring to me.
But the singer has always liked hardcore (anyone remember his band cockpunch?) and I think as time has passed, more kids have gotten into HC through bands like the acacia strain so they get a pass. They also stopped touring with scene bands like Atilla and started taking out actual hardcore bands because its genuinely what they'd rather do. Theres definitely some revisionist history here because when I got into hardcore I wasn't wearing it on my sleeve that I liked the acacia strain and I didn't consider them a hardcore band.

Kids who loved acacia strain and emmure had a weird ass infatuation with “hardcore” not really the scene but the word and being involved with the word. They were also the kids that wouldn’t seek out other bands that weren’t similar to them or check out local bands that weren’t their friends. Some of these kids eventually found tui and have heart and got into new stuff, others still listens to the same shit and go to all those nostalgia fests.

Acacia Strain also put a record out on Closed Casket Activities a few years back, so I’m sure some people used that as a jumping point to re-evaluate the band.

I haven't even bothered to evaluate the band. There's a whole bizarro world of objectively terrible metalinjection feature bands that I don't need to think about.

I fucked with early Acacia Strain releases like 4x4 but I quickly got bored of them. Emmure has always been a band that I associate with frat boys and consumers of Monster energy drinks. I saw Emmure once with Terror and I had to walk out of their set by the 3rd song because they sounded like ass.

I fw the Dead Walk and Continent, there’s a lot of Meshuggah Jr riffs on there. Only time I ever saw them was in like 2008 with Terror and the Red Chord, but I also got into heavy shit via metalcore/deathcore when I was younger. this is my totally interesting/relevant contribution to this thread 👍

about eight years ago when i briefly worked at best buy the vocalist of emmure would always come into my location and buy a shit ton of video games and movies. apparently his girlfriend lived in the area so he would grab some shit for them to play and watch while visiting. he was a pretty decent guy who specifically looked for me because we'd chop it up about music and movies while at checkout. he even opened a credit card while checking out one time which my manager was stoked on.

I wen't specifically for Terror and the Red Chord, but ithey dropped out of the Seattle date and ended up being Terror, Emmure, and Winds of Plague. I left after I saw Terror.

Promo dopped in 2022, full-length out this year. Didn't even know they were still active, and this is their first shit in ten years. Their best shit yet at that. Proficient, no frills hardcore punk. Pages behind on whatever the fuck else anyone is posting. Yeah this is fucking good. The cats from Demolisten podcast right?

Yeah I'm just dropping in to say I fuck with the acacia strain. 3750 and the dead walk go hella dumb.
Emmure are really good live. So good that my drunk ass wen't and bought a cd at the show. Didn't hold up and I never listen to it, but doesn't take away from how ignorant they are live. Like I would totally go see them again.

Year of the Knife surprise released an EP and I surprisingly like it a lot. Madi does all of the vocals, is Tyler even in the band anymore (I know he drums, so maybe he did that?)

I think hes just out of the band, he drums in Gridiron which isnt a full time touring band or anything so maybe he just wants to take a step back from music full time. I think the new EP is so sick, I thought YOTK was very mid before this.

that second song rips off the transition of integrity's "judgement day" so hard lol i don't mind since most clevo worship bands are just lifting integrity parts anyway so i guess they're doing it right in that regard

Someone share their thoughts on the new All Out War. Am I crazy for not really being into it? Is it too black or death metal?? I feel like I can skip half the songs
