If you feel like your extended diatribe about people not liking your band comes across as callow and melodramatic, just sprinkle some vaguely social justice sloganeering in there so you seem like less of a big conceited baby.

Tldr they practice into the night, really late! And slept on floors sometimes a few years ago prob. Respect them
If their newest album didn't sound like foo fighters or some shit and they put out another ok at best hardcore album I don't think they get all this hate but I'm just a dumb cis white male

I glanced at it and saw the words "industry", "success", "contributing to something greater" and just closed the tab.

No one even really needs to touch this one. It’s funny enough that the tweets exist.

there are so many women in hardcore bands right now, hand-waving any criticism of your music as sexism only makes you seem that much more disingenuous

I think it was more that people are calling them an "industry plant" not that people don't like their band.

I dont really like the term "industry plant" because its obtuse as hell, but they are 100000% a band that is gettin resources pushed at them in an attempt to capitalize on the newfound mainstream hardcore crossover. Scowl, drain, militarie gun, turnstile all at the frontline of this. Labels and brands are interested in this sound right now, and scowl are eagerly accepting all opportunities to move onto bigger, more mainstream audiences. Its a tale as old as time.

I feel like we've all be around long enough to know that this shit happens cyclically. The last time I feel like it was Ceremony and Trash Talk and other stuff like that crossing over. Nothing to do but wait it out.

Heard their guarantee is fucking insane.
I don’t get why she’s so upset, plenty of plant bands have kickass careers. Take The Bronx for example.

It’s not just about Scowl crossing over but coming out of nowhere with lots of hype. Those other bands were real bands or in real bands before they got backing.

Total Control playing a set at the Sydney Opera House with orchestral accompaniment was probably the coolest more ambitious/artistic thing I’ve seen a current punk or punk-adjacent whatever band do in recent memory. Much cooler than whatever Turnstile or whoever else is hyped today.
Edit: also, not a huge fan of Trash Talk or Ceremony, but you gotta be kidding me if you think Scowl is as legit as either of those bands. Or, shit, even Code Orange by a laaaaarge margin.

Their rise was actually MORE meteoric than Scowl's.

That makes sense, because they are an objectively better band.
Back to good hardcore bands, I’m stoked that I can prolly listen to the whole Spine LP on my busride home from work today.

i'm wondering who these bands are she mentions in the first sentence. turnstile? cuz they suck, what else yah got?
and "industry plant" is kind of a funny insult, but it's funnier that she's responding earnestly to claims that they are one. no one (on Board, i hope) actually believes they were created in a boardroom by a simon cowell (simon scowl)

One time when I was 15, Code Orange played my hometown and crashed at my parents' house, ate our food, used our bathrooms, etc. They had a large crew of people with them so there were like 10-15 people all over the place, on every single piece of open floorspace and furniture. I sent them all friend requests and the only one who accepted was the shirtless bassist, Joe. We talked about Masakari and Heartless for a while at my folks' house lol Definitely a terrible band but they 100% did their tenure and toured like savages for years
