How do ya'll consume music nowadays? Spotify exclusively? Sit beside a record player? Mp3s on your phone? What is your preferred method in this modern era?

My turntable is fucked up so I haven't been able to use it in forever. Got the pots fixed on my receiver but now my turntable spins too fast for LPs. I have no idea why. I have to pony up and get a new one but I know I'll just want to upgrade everything once I start down that road.

Spotify on the phone is primary but restarted my record collection when Covid hit so I been building that back up and buying tapes here and there as well.

How do ya'll consume music nowadays? Spotify exclusively? Sit beside a record player? Mp3s on your phone? What is your preferred method in this modern era? By any means available. More and more, I like just turning my phone off and spinning records, throwing on tapes, and CDs, too, if I got em. I donβt have a good CD player currently. I have a hard time keeping track of everything digital, but I still use Spotify, YouTube, Soulseek, etc. The RCAs on my turntable need some work right now (one channel is a bit finicky, so prolly gotta take a look and patch or solder something). If I really want to remember a band years from now, then I want a record or a tape or a CD. Thereβs shit I love I probably would forget to throw on if I didnβt own a physical copy. Then thereβs just all-time great records you really got to sit down and pay attention to (if I see a Kate Bush, Roxy Music, Judas Priest, Tangerine Dream, etc. record, Iβm almost certainly buying it).

Soulseek exclusively, via Seeker Android app - though I've started to use Spotify again for podcasts.

Listening to the new Fiddlehead, and I wish bands like this would pick people that can actually sing to front their bands. The music is good, but Pat is essentially singing one note the entire time on every song. Does this drive anyone else crazy?

Bandcamp and YouTube have been my go-to's lately but I do listen to tapes and records quite a bit as I do continue to purchase them (much to my dismay). I use Spotify but not as much as I used to.

The RCAs on my turntable need some work right now (one channel is a bit finicky, so prolly gotta take a look and patch or solder something) might just need some contact cleaner sprayed in there depending on the age. I had a very annoying problem with stereo intermittently cutting out that I assumed was my speakers but it turned out to be my amp's phono input. I download music to a desktop computer, meticulously tag it, and then transfer it to my phone via cable because I'm neurotic and a fucking nerd

Spotify like 75% of the time, then youtube while I'm on my laptop. I spin records fairly infrequently and it's basically always classic rock or anything but hard music.

Probably 90% of my listening now is mp3s on either my phone or laptop while Iβm driving or at work. I spin records when I can at home. I use Bandcamp and YouTube to check out new stuff, but if Iβm really into something Iβll get a physical copy or download mp3s sooner than later.

My father in law is an enthusiast and he thinks it might be the belt. Gonna take it apart and see if that's the problem, and I really hope it is because everything else is more expensive. What kind of TT do you own? It's a vintage Pioneer PL-40 I thrifted from a garage sale, and I'm running it through a rehabbed Kenwood KR40-70 also thrifted. The Kenwood had effed up pots which I had a guy clean for me, and never had any issues with the turntable. When I hooked up the turntable, it would only play 45s at the appropriate speed. LPs were spinning way too fast, like Alvin and the Chipmunks fast.
