I liked the ep and the split Pain of Truth did but the LP is pretty boring. A couple of tracks but largely not as memorable. I've always thought most hardcore bands should steer clear of doing LPs and stick to the EP route. Give me your best 4-6 best songs.

pain of truth is probably really sick if you're a zoomer but it's nothing i haven't seen and heard multiple times already. not that i need something new and exciting, but it doesn't grab me

Pain of Truth LP has a few fun songs but not a lot of lasting value here. Also Backtrack was exceedingly βfineβ and nothing more than that.

"features" on a hardcore record is an incredibly weird concept

Why do they list the band name and not the person doing the guest spot?

Why do they list the band name and not the person doing the guest spot? because then it wouldn't get the attention that it is

No one knows some of those government names aside from like Vogel and Cricien. Daniel Smith, who the fuck is that? Oh you meant Dan xSpinkickx, sure, I'm buying the record then.

If they arenβt known by their name maybe they arenβt worth featuring Β―\_(γ)_/Β―

"features" on a hardcore record is an incredibly weird concept You gave me grief for thinking Kid Dynamite didnβt hold up well, but Shorter, Faster Louder has two of these that were done with the expressed hope that more hardcore bands would do them.

Most hardcore records have one guest spot, pain of truth have one non guest spot. Records fine, kind of boring. Cool to hear Shane from bad seed singing again tbh.

Ive seen them a few times... ive seen them when noone was really moving and in a packed out Brooklyn Monarch and they played with the same effort and enthusiasm.

I live in LI, but not actually from here, so I feel like that messes with my perspective. I like both POT and Backtrack, but living in LI and being able to see them at hometown shows gives them a whole other vibe. That said, I wish I liked their recordings more than I actually do. I'm not reaching for their records often, but if I have the opportunity, I'm definitely going to the show.
Backtrack -- I remember getting their demo in a parking lot after a show, and seeing them grow from small rooms to bigger venues and people going wild. It was both shocking and a great surprise to see how quickly they blew up. Truly a great band if you got to see them live and go off in the crowd. I don't really revisit them outside of the demo, though...
POT -- They are definitely following in that same lineage (decent quality with wild live shows and featured on line-ups with other great bands) which makes sense given their connection. People could roll their eyes at the features, but I think it's cool that people new to hardcore are given quicker access to good bands. As I mentioned in the albums thread, we don't have the luxury of the liner notes and thank you pages anymore.

Features were prevent pre 2000s.
Off the top of my head:
25 ta Life had ezec/freddy on a track doing full verses.
Candiria had the Shutdown dude.
Im sure there are a ton more if i thought about it.
