Sean, please consider the twisted reality that the outcome of the strike hinges on the financial success of something like Barbenheimer. It's a coincidentally perfect opportunity to show studios what they will lose without professional actors and writers. Millions are flooding the theaters to see these films specifically because of who is in them and who wrote them. The people want Margot Robbie... they want Ryan Gosling and Cillian Murphy. Nobody would ever go see a Barbie movie if it wasn't written by Gerwig/Baumbach or other people on their level, and only someone as psychotic as Nolan could turn one of the top three worst things that ever happened into a summer blockbuster. The studios need to see that hundreds of millions in profit will evaporate without our labor. Yeah it's all a bit ridiculous on the surface, and no doubt the execs will be fingering themselves thinking about what a great capitalism they did this weekend, but going out to see this stuff truly does validate the work of every artist who was employed on those productions. It's a good moment for organized labor. And tomorrow we can go back to supporting independent film.  |

This chick has an OF, is a self proclaimed hippie empath, posted not long ago that she was trying to hold the title of "sluttiest girl at the farmers market" and found barbie very empowering, so maybe Sean is wrong. A woman can be whatever she wants guys. And also, virtue signaling and big corps and stuff.  |
