it's so cool!! production is dry and grimy and sparse, perfect backdrop for the hard ass lyrics.
really wanna spend more time learning about old country production this summer, essentially all of the first-hand recording experiences i've had have extended from the rock school of things

When it comes to digital listening, I've been drinking the Spotify koolaid so much I can't remember when I last downloaded a song let alone a whole album. You'd be surprised how much old stuff is on there via compilations and what not...

I don't even have Spotify, it's all too overwhelming and I end up listening to the same stuff over and over. Plus I listen to most music on my runs and I don't carry a phone but an mp3 player.

Good list. Double Wide Blues is a great song. I like that he has gone through so many phases, he can sound like Tom Petty, John Prine, Woody Guthrie, or Widespread Panic (if you get into his Hard Working Americans stuff, RIP Neal Casal).

Here's a new track by a dutch dude by the name of Hurricane Joe. Usually plays punk shows and does more of a Hank III-inspired thing but it seems like he's been turning the Americana up a notch lately.
