Someone posted a link on the old board of a band called Gone Dead Train? Or the album was called that? It was just 4-5 songs and I’ve never been able find it again. I think I still have it on an old iPod somewhere, but I’m pretty sure I can’t get the songs off of there. I’m hoping one of you downloaded it and still has it or remembers what the hell I'm talking about haha

My old housemate played drums in a Merle Haggard type band for a while, with these really sketchy dudes in thier 40s/50s. Every show would have rival bike gangs show up and get into wild brawls, apparently security would just stand back let it happen Dude would always come home the next day totally fuckin rattled from being fed liquor and meth all night and get told nasty bikie stories

Is there going to be another season of the Mike Judge show profiling country artists? Got me into a lot cool music Next season is about funk music / r&b, I think it's currently airing if I'm not mistaken. I know Rick James is going to be one of the profiled artists.

Get to see him in February however I have zero hope of him playing anything before his last 3 albums.
Been playing these guys a bunch.

Not super new but the new Austin Lucas is good. A bit more polished than usual but still good nonetheless.

Right in my fuckin wheelhouse!
Here's some of the top jams that I love that I think would fall in this genre realm:
My number 1 "alt country song" is defintely Whiskeytown - Houses on the Hill, i think in any genre, if I had to take a stanza or couple lines and put them up against alltimers, I would choose this: Well I found them in the northwest corner of the attic in a box Labeled tinsel and lights Didn't know what I was I looking for Maybe just a blanket or artifacts Eisenhower sent him to war He kept her picture in his pocket that was closest to his heart And when he hit shore Must have been a target for the gunman
Some others that would vie for a top ten position:
Heres an amazing video of Blaze Foley doing 'If I Could Only Fly' AT A BACKYARD WEDDING

Radio country is far from my jam but I hear a lot of it considering I live in rural Montana and my girlfriend is a bartender on free jukebox night. This song is a fucking banger, I don’t care who you are: My girlfriend regularly spins Shania and Kacey Musgraves on top of some locals from Texas (Josh Abbott Band is the only one that comes to mind).

One of my fave Country recordings. Hank III live for the BBC. Excellent set with a few great covers thrown in. This was recorded in 2000, when he sounded a lot like Hank Senior. Direct download: bg.firstpress.net/Hank%20III%20Live%20at%20BBC%202000.zip
