I think I have to accept I just dont connect with bluegrass. I love everything Sturgill has done but Cuttin Grass just makes me want to listen to the other albums. I'm sure the musicianship is top notch but I grew up in Michigan so it's not like I grew up grass. Sailors Guide hit me immediately probably because we listened to motown growing up. Sound and Fury works for me too maybe because ZZ top was usually playing in my dads garage. Maybe itll grow on me.

So I'm catching up on new release to do another episode with just brand new stuff and this caught my ear.
Could've sworn it was Marty Robbins.

Sometimes I wish I never had to see what newer country artists look like. Almost all of them have the most punch able faces.
And they all shop at the Austin version of urban outfitters.

I think old western wear is a great look I agree on Charley Crockett, I'm more talking about the hand, neck tattooed, with some western shirt, goofy glasses kinda guys that appear on gemsonvhs. Maybe I'm just hating.

I get what your saying but to be fair, goofy glasses and heavily tattooed necks/hands(/faces) are just broader societal trends. So it only makes sense to see them on aspiring current folk/country artists. The cowboy hat/western shirt/boots are in turn there because they probably feel like it has to be. I'm kind of rambling here but the way most of these folks look is just a logical conclusion to balancing recent trends and the "country uniform" I suppose. I imagine people feeling the same about every artist wearing a mullet in the 80's. If it's any relief, Billy Strings looks like he just walked out of a Grateful Dead tailgate party.

I think you're right and it's the same we see in punk/hardcore, just kinda corny if you're not knee-deep into it. I think VNE has the best "this is just what I wear" look, even with his goofy new haircut.

I know several dudes that used to be into hardcore that have decided to hop on the folk bandwagon. Started wearing cowboy hats and boots, grew big staches. It’s amazing how it was almost an overnight thing to
