"Heartworn Highways" is on Showtime rn. Won't say how many times I've watched it this month.

Won't say how many times I've watched it this month. yeah dad. actually just got the app add-on for Prime (shame me, I shame me, too), so we could start that new Yellowjackets show because I've always really loved Lord of the Flies. Getting into the weeds, but yeah, good to know this is on Showtime.

I am always really late to checking out new albums, even for the artists I love the most. Finally got around to John R. Miller's Depreciated. What a record, man. Faustina... wooo.

Am I crazy for hearing a gnarly black metal riff in Ira's mandolin picking in that opening? Might be more on the crybaby atmo DSBM side of the black spectrum maybe but none the less...

Cocaine & rhinestones really fell off this season. I love Jones and his story, but these intro are too much,
I get Tyler’s trying to make a connection to Jones and each intro topic, but come on.
46 minutes of the history of soap operas, just to mention Tammy was in one for a year.

I feel the juice is worth the squeeze on the intros but most of 'em I've found interesting. Definitely feels like fluff the farther it goes as in the beginning it seemed they linked up more.

Gotta thank novogue for introducing these dudes couple years ago. I wouldn’t mind some live banjo/bluegrass rippers in honor of JD Crowe.

So how bout that new episode of C&R, pretty unsettling. The intro definitely matched the show.

Bleak doesn’t come close to describing. That picture he painted of Jones tanking his big gig, babbling like the duck whilst crying… Jesus.

What Midland hook is this? I've listened to this song 100 times now for research, and can't think of it.

Spun through it a couple times but I can't hear anything past it sounding like any generic euro summer chart topper circa 2012-2018.

The main hook sounds a lot like the hook from Midland's song Burn out. Her singing "He don't love me like tequila does" is sang the same way as "Watching cigarettes burn out"

There it is! Haha, she sang this on the Nashville New Years party thing on TV. It was damn awful, but this song got stuck in my head and that’s why.

I’ve never dug too heavy into country other than Cash, Townes Van Zandt, Willie, etc. Somehow came across Colter Wall and then onto Benjamin Tod/Lost Dog Street Band and I’m hooked. Before I go back and check everything out in thread, could someone kindly recommend 10 albums for me to start with?

Nick Shoulders - Okay, Crawdad or Home On the Rage (but any of his stuff will do) Charley Crockett - Music City, USA Blue Cactus - Stranger Again Cactus Lee - Texas Music Forever Garrett T. Capps - All Night, All Right Vincent Neil Emerson - s/t Elijah Ocean - Born Blue Nathan Kalish - Songs For Nobody Riddy Arman - Spirits, Angels Or Lies Mapache - s/t
All fairly recent, fairly popular stuff that spans the spectrum of country music from honky tonk revivalist to singer songwriter bluesman. In terms of older artists, listen to Gram Parsons and George Jones.

I'd pick Okay, crawdad over Home as an entry point, I feel like there is a wider variety.

Daniel Romano - Sleep Beneath The Willow Drive By Truckers - the Dirty South (See Also Jason Isbell) Justin Townes Earle - Nothings Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now John Moreland - High On Tulsa Heat Sturgill Simpson - Metamodern Sounds In Country Music Ryan Bingham - Junky Star Sam Outlaw - Angeleno Croy & The Boys - Howdy High-Rise Richmond Fontaine - You Can't Go Back If There's Nothing To Go Back To Joshua Hedley - Mr. Jukebox
Probably not as varied but some banger albums. Old Shit I'd say Tom T. Hall, Buck Owens, Blaze Foley, Marty Robbins, Johnny Paycheck and so on. Cruise the thread for sure, tons of videos all over the place.
