I love the South Park episode poking fun at the writers strike, even if the point they were trying to make about the WGA was braindead.

I didn’t put two and two together at the time but that makes so much sense. That second season was horrific. I also remember really wanting to like that show Heroes but the strike fucked that one. A writer on The Bear was on Dan Lebatards pod today and it was a good listen. He gave out his venmo, hopefully that shit is flush with cash now. I’m about to jump into the new The Watch pod on it too. I’m

Space Ghost (coast to coast) is leaving Hbomax at the end of the month, so I will be putting in some work on that in the upcoming days/weeks/nights. Seen a lot of it already but not the entirety.

I just don’t think the show really knows what it is anymore. Gives into its worst tendencies too often. Things that were once endearing are forced and super hokey/overdone. It was obvious it was drifting in season 2. Season 1 will always be pretty perfect though.

It's funny how Hollywood in the last decade have pitifully tried to include more LGBTQ characters into tv / film and the best they've done are like marginal / glad handing / focus grouped bs roles while somehow one of the baddest motherfuckers in the history of tv / film was a gay black man.

This week’s Barry was definitely a bit of a cool down moment after last week’s barn burner. Feeling very Breaking Bad to me, not mad about it at all.

Fun episode of Succession. I can see Kendall rising to the top or completely failing. Really don't know how it's going to turn out.

Stranger Things S5 filming and production delayed due to the writers strike.
Will this show suffer the same fate as Heroes?

Two episodes of Silo dropped on Apple. I need to start reading the books again to make sure it's giving them justice, but so far so good! So far it looks pretty good to me. They’ve managed to capture the look and atmosphere of the silo like I imagined it. Some minor things are bothering me like George cleaning away a half eaten apple and bread and a lack of consistency when it comes to how „worn down“ things and people are looking but that’s very nitpicky.

Normally I despise time jumps cause I think they’re dishonest from a storytelling perspective but I see why Bill Hader did it here. He’s really going all in on Barry being a narcissistic monster and needed Barry to have a wife and kid to demonstrate that Barry will always put himself first above anyone and everyone, including his literal child. Season 3 he took Gene’s family hostage out of ostensible love and now he’s taking his own family hostage for the same reason.
Him getting annoyed at his son asking for a comforter cause he’s cold at night but getting excited about his book about Abraham Lincoln coming in was such a perfect touch. Like he really doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but himself.

Loved the final shot in Barry last night being a blatant homage to Walter White and Breaking Bad when he stands outside the RV, pantless, holding his gun. All aces.

Yeah I wonder if they’re just gonna stick with the time jump. They have to go back for an episode, right? To fucking show how it happened?

There's three episodes left, I think it's pretty committed to this timeline now. You have to have a whole episode dedicated to him trying to kill Gene. That leaves two left. You have to imagine one of them will resolve the Hank storyline which would have to be done in the future (eight years later), can't imagine him trying to take on the whole Chechnyan mafia (again) THEN go on the lam. Then you have the finale. I would like to know / see the payoff for Fuches.

The podcast on The Ringer where Hader talks about each episode is pretty telling about his ideas and how they came to be on screen. Weirdly I doubt that last scene is a homage to Breaking Bad because Hader doesn't watch current shit at all. Dude stays at home and watches movies from the 40s-70s strictly. He only saw There Will Be Blood because he attended the premier.
This episode of Barry was lowkey hilarious. Some really funny lines that are passed over quickly, like when he tells his son to join him on the swinging bench after planting the medals in the front yard. or when walking through the field saying, "look at all that God has given us" and its literally boundless nothing around them. When Sally says, "what did you guys learn today" and Barry says "you mean taught him?"

Yeah I wonder if they’re just gonna stick with the time jump. They have to go back for an episode, right? To fucking show how it happened? I don’t personally feel they need to broach it, but that’s just me, and I certainly can’t fault anyone for wanting to see the actual process of what and how Barry and Sally fled. But I do feel like I’ve gleaned enough from the tiny clip in episode 4 that showed the jump and all of episode 5. I trust that Bill and Alec know what they’re doing. And I’d assume they took this route because showing everything in between could very well result in a super dull and disengaging additional season that could do more to tank interest than maintain it. I loved last night’s episode, but it was the first in this whole series that left me a little sleepy at points. Kinda incredible how consistently solid the show is that only at the end of season 4 can I say I was somewhat bored with an episode. Long live Hader and Berg.
