Better Call Saul wen't back and forth with the time jump and eventually just committed to it when there was nothing else to show from the Saul/BB era. I still feel like I wanna see more from when they fled but if they don't, it'll probably still be great.
Episode just had me wondering about pesky logistical details. Like how they can afford a fairly nice house and ordering a Bunch of shit online with Sally's waitress wages alone. Its not like its a shack.

I mean it kind of IS a shack. Itβs literally in a field somewhere in the southwest.
Iβm assuming Barry had cash squirreled away somewhere (they never actually hit his house, or mention doing it).

I thought the line about the comforter implied they didn't have heat. Not sure what to think. And Sally is in the public eye with a new identity but Barry obviously doesn't go anywhere and they don't let their son go anywhere either. Why risk having Sally in public if they didn't absolutely need the money? And her face would be plastered everywhere as having been on the lam with Barry.

Think the comforter line was more to show that Barry only cares about himself in most situations cause at the same time he was siked for his Lincoln book.

Also thought it was interesting how Barry changed the Korangal Valley story from him being a soldier to a medic and from someone who killed a civilian to a hero who saved Albertβs life. Iβm assuming they put that clip in the intro to remind the audience that he was actually a killer.

The podcast on The Ringer where Hader talks about each episode is pretty telling about his ideas and how they came to be on screen. Weirdly I doubt that last scene is a homage to Breaking Bad because Hader doesn't watch current shit at all. Dude stays at home and watches movies from the 40s-70s strictly. He only saw There Will Be Blood because he attended the premier. This episode of Barry was lowkey hilarious. Some really funny lines that are passed over quickly, like when he tells his son to join him on the swinging bench after planting the medals in the front yard. or when walking through the field saying, "look at all that God has given us" and its literally boundless nothing around them. When Sally says, "what did you guys learn today" and Barry says "you mean taught him?" Hader apparently was allowed to hang out and shadow the Better Call Saul writers room so there's definitely some homage to BB universe that's more than felt.

This is dumb but the Korengal thing always annoyed me because thats a famously rugged area of Afghanistan but all the flashbacks are set in desert villages, and his box with hes medals and awards blatantly says Iraq on it. Im so curious to see how/if they show how Hank has ended up after he was finally able to achieve some happiness and everything wen't to shit.

also, his service uniform shows two sleeve stripes, so he served 8-11 years. it would be very unlikely for him NOT to have been in Iraq at some point.

The Ringer recap pod is hilarious to me. Every time Fennessy proposes an interpretation of the show Hader is just like "Ehhhhh, no. Just thought that would look cool." Not speaking on the BB point in particular - I just finished that episode and haven't listened to the pod - but Hader regularly shoots down possible references or deeper interpretations and gives lots of praise to his collaborators. That being said, I think Hader is an incredible director and it's been interesting to hear him talk about the show as he has shifted into that role. I can't fucking wait to see what he does next.
I loved the episode, and I thought the time jump was done well (that kid aint fucking 7 years old though.)

Samantha Carrie Miranda Charlotte adjusting my list to this now that ive seen miranda fuck footage but maybe she's just fuckin bozos so far the new show doesn't have samantha?? that's fucked up there should just be a samantha show honestly, what theyβre doing with Samantha now is even more offensive. Since Kim Cattrall hates SJP and refused (smartly) to not do that bullshit show, they wrote her in as texting with Carrie so thereβs whole scenes of Carrie texting with βSamanthaβ. The creator of the show promised more Samantha texting this season which is the most pathetic thing. Btw the new show is one of the worst things ever made.

'And Just Like That' is so bad, but I am still going to watch, because I love to hate the Che Diaz character.

Succession talk: Shiv basically fucked herself by siding with Mattson and she knew it the moment she heard about India. While the show is setting up Kendall as the successor, I'm still not convinced he won't fuck it up somehow.

Mattson is going to buy Waystar, hire Greg as his head of comms or HR and have him fire the family.

Maybe not a popular apinion: This season of succession is starting to feel kind of exhausting to me. The first couple episodes got me super hyped, but it's getting tiring now.
I dunno quite how to articulate it, but all the nastiness and scheming felt more intriguing before. Like the story beneath it supported it better. I'm kind of losing the plot this season just watching ultra-rich people be assholes to everyone and each other.

Spent the last couple of months watching all 10 seasons of Vanderpump Rules and it's easily the peak of reality tv. Have any other posters watched this?

With Logan in the story everything sort of felt like just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Like, Tom's line about never seeing Logan get fucked was the show's primary motif: how is Logan going to fuck over the kids just when you think he's down and out. With him out, the show feels unpredictable and truly giving the other characters time to shine. Kendall is equal parts addict and Logan aspirant, so you never know if what he's doing is a stroke of ruthless genius or flailing. I love it.

started on season 3 of Twin Peaks finally. Man is it wild. I don't know how I feel about it tbh but that's sort of the point I guess, it's bonkers.
If David Lynch just did another season of cozycore/small town mystery + saccharine melodrama + dark horror it would be too obvious. That's what everyone wants, he just said fuck it, ramped up the fever dream aspect, and most of it so far doesn't even take place anywhere near Twin Peaks. He could've done the easy thing but he chose not to, and I guess I can respect that.

Im so jealous of people who get to experience the return for the first time. It blew my fucking mind. Especially ep 8.
