I never make actual thanksgiving food for thanksgiving. I think this year Iβm making salmon, we rent out cold storage from a salmon company so I get the hookup. Probably doing that, greens, maybe a pasta salad of some sort, wings, who knows what else.
The only sort of Thanksgiving food Iβm looking forward to is TJβs stuffing kettle chippies.

I think maybe there's a misunderstanding here. I am social and polite to people for a living, I get home and want to not have to talk, as well as be on the couch with chicken and my wife, both of which make me extremely happy.

on the thanksgiving tip, turkey and all that rocks. Homemade stuffing is a god tier side. I also don't mind "friendsgiving". we sometimes go with my uncle who has a friend that hosts one every year. It's usually a chill time with everyone hanging out watching football and then bouncing once dessert is done.

We generally do Thanksgiving with my gfβs family and her cousins βdonβt likeβ turkey. Didnβt touch the cheesecake we (she) made, either, and we made a delicious warm fruit topping with some Amaro Angeleno in it

What else should we argue about today In all seriousness, the negative attitudes around plans has more to do with the fact that most of us get very little free time, and we're left to choose between errands, self-care, vegging out, or socialization with what little sliver of time we have. As a biproduct, people use things like holidays, life events, etc. to bring everyone together which can make invited guests feel more pressure not to miss it. We don't dislike our friends, but it's the anxiety that you're sacrificing something else and/or not making the best use of your time. People just need to make better thought-out plans. |

There's actually a thinkpiece on bachelor/bachelorette parties and how our inability to do basic things with friends like run errands together culminates into engineering these large life events as an excuse to be with your friends again, and the pressure to be there is likely to ruin the whole experience.

I am paid to be nice to the dumbest people on earth, and with what free time I have, i simply do not want to have any extra conversations with anyone.
