I really don't get people who get so maligned about aging. my 30s have been significantly better than my 20s in every conceivable metric we could measure them by.

Had a phone interview to be an HVAC apprentice today. DK if it's fully the right fit cause might end up being more sales related than labor but I'm gonna feel it out cause I gotta get out of the coffee industry cess pool. what do you do in the coffee industry? Im a roaster but I do other warehouse stuff too. Part of my frustration is that I have so many duties on top of roasting 200,000+ lbs of coffee a year, and that I've been there for 7 years and have never eclipsed 35k after taxes. To boot the company has quadrupled in size in the last two years and I have only gotten a .50 cent raise, and I'm the longest term employee other than owners. It's just getting dysfunctional and its draining that I'm barely getting by while doing the most labor intensive job in the building and other people are getting raises to sip cofffee, look at IG videos and go on 4 hour bike rides on the clock. Sorry for ranting. |

It was a good place to work for a while and they gave me a cool opportunity to go to Brazil, but the last two years shit just wen't south and I've been taken advantage of. I understand coffee industry has a ton of components to pay for with farming/shipping/exporting/importing/brewing etc and isn't the most profitable, but the last year they've opened 2 new shops and bought another equally as big roasting company all while declining to give me $3.50 an hour raise and I decided I had enough. |
