Ha. Well I hope everyone involved is a good sport and shows up to collect their Razzies. They were mad from what I read. Mad that there was no advertising or promotion at all. Seemed the studio knew it was a dud and killed all of that beforehand to cut their losses.

I finally saw True Stories for the first time. Really enjoyed it. Makes me want to watch Stop Making Sense since I've only seen bits and pieces of it.

Watched Changeland tonight. Written and directed by Seth Green. It wasn't BAD. It was kinda just a movie and makes me really wanna go to Thailand. And Randy Orton is in it. Also, Macauley Culkin. Decent watch, if you're bored.

watched WINTER KILLS from '79. Its a crazy paranoia/conspiracy movie mixed with an odyssey film that takes you places you don't expect. It works as both kinds of films, and Jeff Bridges and John Huston give great performances - one subtler than the other. Its a favorite personal discovery of the year so far.

DOCTOR SLEEP trailer is one of the best trailers I am VERY interested in how they’re going to play this. Doctor Sleep as you all know is the follow up to King’s The Shining. Kubrick’s adaptation is notoriously hated by King, yet this trailer clearly depicts this as as a sequel to Kubrick’s The Shining. I guess he’s just accepted the fact that there’s no putting that genie back in the battle and there’s no way the studio would let him make a sequel adaptation to the book and not the film.

Gonna check this out ASAP. Love conspiracy cinema. Can't even count how many times i've seen films like Parallax View, The Conversation or the original Manchurian Candidate. Thanks

That Doctor Sleep trailer relies so heavily on The Shining. I'm really doubting that it's going to stand up on its own.

That Doctor Sleep trailer came out of nowhere but the last few notes as the title appeared made me smile

I have no reason to doubt Mike Flanagan. Dude is already a master, and if he accomplishes this... legend status.

Black Christmas is getting remade.....AGAIN. This time, Blumhouse is releasing it and Sophia Lakal is directing it. I liked Always Shine quite a bit, so I assume it'll at least be better than the other remake since Lakal is involved.

Weird, but big fan of Takal herself. She’s great in Mumblecore stuff. The remake in 06 got away with some crazy stuff for a wide release.

Watched a great documentary on Prime called Darwin: No Services Ahead, about an isolated community on the outskirts of Death Valley, CA with a population of 35. The doc explores the lives of these eccentric people and how they wound up in the middle of nowhere. If you're a fan of Morris' Vernon FL or Gates of Heaven, this is for you. Sounds good to me. Turning this on now.

Going back to the Amazon Prime streaming discussion...if it’s eyetalian, there’s a 99.9% chance you’re in luck.
So, with that in mind, I Just watched THE BIG RACKET. Starring the great Fabio Testi. Known for the great Peckinpah-esque shootout at the end. If you look it up on Letterboxd that’s in every review, for good reason. It’s exactly like Peckinpah directed a poliziotteschi.

“You guys laughed in some of the places I wouldn’t have, but that’s cool,” -Danzig after he premiered his film at a horror film fest in Chicago
Apparently his tribute to Mario Bava is more of a tribute to Tommy Wiseau

I have no reason to doubt Mike Flanagan. Dude is already a master, and if he accomplishes this... legend status. this. If anyone can make a horror movie with two different periods of time, it's him. I was going to rewatch Haunting of Hill House this October anyway but this coming out in November seals the deal

I think Flanagan can pull off Doctor Sleep. Everything thing he's done in the past seems to be leading up to this.

The trailer legit gave me goosebumps so its safe to say I'm pumped and as a follow up to Kubricks Shinning I am so glad to see a actual director attached and ewan mcgregor in the lead role.

I’m sure people have asked literally like a hundred times but what’re people’s letterboxd? I’ve used criticker and it will always be my main but I recently made a letterboxd. Please add me if you’re looking for someone to over analyze stupid comedy movies from time to time www.letterboxd.com/federaldust/

Didn't all the characters die at the end of Devil's Rejects?

The Dead Don't Die was fine, but a lesser work from Jarmusch. It does have its moments sprinkled here and there. I do hope the theme song from Sturgill Simpson gets Best Original Song nom.

Loveless (2018, Russian) was pretty much perfect. I'm actually disappointed I waited so long to watch it. Need to try and find The Banishment and The Return now.

I'm worried about seeing this because Jarmusch is often incredibly on-the-nose in an extremely irritating way and this looks like maybe a prime example of that

I'm worried about seeing this because Jarmusch is often incredibly on-the-nose in an extremely irritating way and this looks like maybe a prime example of that You summed it up right there. Too bad. He is capable of great things (Mystery Train, Paterson), but he is too often really enamored of his own concepts, which are way more ordinary and pedestrian than he seems to think. He's basically like a 66 year old perpetual film undergrad, albeit a talented one. "Small town alt moves to the big city" vibes.
