While I like most of Adam Wingard's work, I hope he doesn't fuck it up like he did with the live action Death Note. I haven't given up on him yet.

What about Pulgasari, the North Korean Godzilla? That film is COOL.

Just got home from seeing GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS I couldn’t like this movie any more than I did and I’m the most surprised by it. I liked Skull Island a lot. I liked this one more. I just “got” Godzilla tonight - I get those that really, really have lots of love for him now. I loved HIM, as an entity, more than anything else in the movie. First off, yeah, some dumb stuff written into this, mainly the plot (excuse) to release all the monsters. Farmiga’s character was bad and after that speech on the webcam I literally said “oh no”, fearing the movie that I had been injecting into my veins for the previous 40 minutes was going to Hell from there on....but it didn’t, for me. I liked all the other characters, and the “human drama” worked for me...it was enough. I liked Eleven’s plight. And then Especially... ...Ken Watanabe and where he wen't. Holy cow I about teared up when he Spoke Japanese in his final lines with his hand on Godzilla What an incredible scene, like, scene of the year so far, and for all the other human silliness, delivered and acted perfectly by a true professional. In a lot of other summer fare, that’s the end of the movie. And oh by the way, that whole underwater sequence was so fun and looked great. A ton of cool shots. Loved the cgi - never got fatigued by it, which is the movie’s greatest compliment I think, because there’s obviously a ton. The scene where Godzilla Is swimming towards us earlier on...swims off, and then swims by again was a perfect jump scare and genuinely suspenseful. Every snap zoom awesome. I think the this movie understands terror and what is frightening on screen. For example, there’s all kinds of shots of various monsters that are far off, away from you, but it’s coming, they’re coming, for you, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. It’s like a nightmare. “DR. SERIZAWA HAS THAT BIG LIZARD JUICED!! Hahahaha

Fully agreed on the Cloverfield point. That movie's greatest success was the immersion of feeling like you are IN the shit with those characters. When I was 18 I got super high and saw that in theaters. The part where the chick explodes had me sleepless for a few nights.

Dark Phoenix reviews are unfortunate. What a disappointing end to that franchise. Good to see that Sophie Turner is one of the bright spots though since the trailers made it look like the opposite.

Saw Cloverfield when I was 18 too. The marketing/mystery of what the movie was about got me and my dudes hyped. Didn't disappoint too

Just finished watching Spartacus (1960). Man, Kubrick and Douglas, what a pair. Brilliant acting performances all around, actually. At first I was a bit skeptical due to the movie's 3+ hrs runtime, but it ended up feeling a lot shorter. It's crazy how Kubrick can film the most mundane sequences or draw something out for minutes longer than you'd think you'd want it to, and you still get transfixed by the scene.

Watched the Deadwood movie last night finally. The series is in my top 5 shows ever. I enjoyed it although i don't think it was better than any single episode of the show. Some characters, like Calamity Jane and Al looked pretty much the same, while others looked like they aged 20 years. My main gripe was having a sick Al, as i was looking forward to seeing the tough, healthy ruthless Al that i'm used to. He still had the poetic profanity and also had the best lines, but it seemed like he was used ore for comic relief a lot of the time. Also didn't care for Seth being married to the wife from Breaking Bad. Maybe it's just my association with her in that show, but she annoys me. Just great to see all the characters and settings again, and the ending was great. Sucks there was no Cy Tolliver. He was one of my fave characters.

Dark Phoenix was streaming on a porn site, so I watched it there lol. I honestly thought I watched a DC comics movie, it was so dull.
I just saw this Korean crime thriller called The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil. It doesn't break any new grounds, but it was still fun as fuck.

Watched a great documentary on Prime called Darwin: No Services Ahead, about an isolated community on the outskirts of Death Valley, CA with a population of 35. The doc explores the lives of these eccentric people and how they wound up in the middle of nowhere. If you're a fan of Morris' Vernon FL or Gates of Heaven, this is for you.

I wanted to just turn my brain off and enjoy a stupid movie last night after a long work week, so I decided to Redbox the 2019 film Serenity. Jesus Henry Christ, who read this script and thought it was a good idea? How did this movie get made?

My co-worker who loves bad movies as I do recommend that one to me. Said he was audibly laughing at how bad the 'big twist' was at the end. I wanna see it and the runtime is only like 1:40 so I feel like it'd be worth it.

That’s what I’m saying, I expected it to be a cheesy fun watch but it was decidedly not fun, man. I pretty much knew what they were doing like 20 minutes in and I was just not on board with it It’s sorta like if Indentity was heavy handed with the twisty reveal early on and was just poorly written and acted throughout

McConaughey and Hathaway probably sighned on without even reading a script due to Steven Knight. Thing is, if it would've stayed grounded and not had any of the goofy stuff, there was an okay 90s sunny noir smut movie in there somewhere.

Yeah, Serenity was bad. Not gonna lie, I wasn't mad that I watched it. Experiencing the absurdly stupid twist was kind of fun lol.

You represented about 40% of the box office with your single ticket. That is something.
