Saw Kore-eda's new film The Truth last night. Bittersweet on the outside, melancholic on the inside. A minor, but solid effort.

Paul Dano just took the Riddler role (in that new Matt Reeves/Pattinson Batman movie) after Jonah Hill passed on it.
That could be really, really cool. muchacho is so fucking underrated.

I love the idea of Pattinson as batman but why do they keep hiring British actors .I'm also really stoked for The Lighthouse.

Watched The Art of Self Defense and Stuber on my flight today.
Art of Self Defense was really cool and Stuber was a lot of fun.

Go rent Greener Grass on VOD right now, it's so fucking funny. Probably the funniest movie of 2019.

Watched Low Tide last night. One of the best current films I've seen. Loved everything about it.

late to report back but I saw Parasite last weekend at IFC in Manhattan and it was, unsurprisingly, fantastic.

The Lighthouse ruled, unsurprisingly. A lot funnier than I expected it to be.

Has anyone watched Little Monsters (2019)? Pretty fun zombie movie that Hulu produced.

Some notable watches
Aguirre, Wrath of God - 8/10. I checked this out because Apocalypse Now supposedly took inspiration from it, and the parallels are striking, not just in setting but the entire tone. Great movie.
In the Soup - 7.5/10. Very funny and charming. Buscemi and Seymour Cassel put on a hell of a performance together

In the Soup rules. There's a great documentary on Prime called Blank City about the 80s NYC Cinema of Transgression scene that Buscemi came from.

Holy Shit Hard Candy was one of the best movies I have ever seen can't recommend it enough. Hard Candy is nuts. I didn't even know who to root for half the time. The "victim" is more an unlikable character than the protagonist.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre was great although it is impossible to get the same kind of dread it produced when it came out which is rather unfortunate.

Meh House Of A 1000 Corpses Was pretty good not bad but not great. Best part by far was Sid Haig as the Captain. After that it's just too choppy and disjointed, even for a grindhouse movie. Still gonna check out Devil's Rejects at some point though.

Saw A Hidden Life last night, it's Malick at his most accessible as far as his post-hiatus films go. It's also better than his last three films.

Watched Trainspotting and Green Room this weekend, somehow had never seen either and both were coincidentally punk affiliated on accident. Trainspotting fashion and dialogue is so good

Yeah, 3 From Hell was entertaining but not really good. Sort of like a Robert Rodriguez movie.
